Rye hosted Eastchester for their home opener and dismantled the Eagles 51-0 in a much-needed bounce-back win after losing a close game the week prior to Clarkstown South. QB Charlie Brady was very efficient, going 10-for-12 passing with 198 yards and 4 touchdowns in the first half, before being rested midway through the 3rd quarter and not even attempting a pass. Outside of Brady’s passing touchdowns, Finn Scioli, Ebling, and Max An all contributed a score on the ground for the Garnets. “Tonight was a step in the right direction,” Garr said after the win.
Outside of the score, this game was a “Purple Out,” in honor of Pediatric Cancer Night. Rye players wore “Hamish Strong” stickers on their helmets in remembrance of Hamish Fenton, a member of the Rye community who lost his battle to cancer earlier this spring. His older brother, Jagger, is a captain for the Garnets.
Rye takes on Mount Vernon on Sept. 26th on the road, looking to keep the momentum from this game and apply it once again, with quality, high-efficiency play from their skill players. After that, they continue their road trip to play Somers, which is a sectional rematch from last season, on Oct. 2nd.
