The struggle continues. White Plains Tigers fall to the Yonkers Guardians, 14-28, in a season that just seems like it can’t get going. The Tigers find themselves 0-3 to start the season, with team morale surely lower than wanted.

Defense continues to struggle to stop the ball in both the run and the pass, with the senior quarterback from Yonkers throwing 12-for-18 for 258 yards and 4 touchdowns, picking the defense apart and easily scoring in every quarter except the third. The Guardians showed what the Tigers are lacking: a strong defense. It’s imperative that the defensive scheme from White Plains is changed moving into next week, with week-after-week success from opposing quarterbacks being able to move the ball with ease down the field. The defense needs to bring more pressure on the quarterback, forcing opposing quarterbacks into uncomfortable situations.

Looking at the offensive end of the field, this week was a step of improvement for the Tigers. After a slow start in the first half, scoring 0 points and giving up 15, the Tigers were able to find their way into the end zone in both the third and fourth quarters, even finding themselves only down by 6 points in the third quarter. But with the defense giving up 15 points in the fourth quarter, it put the nail in the coffin for the Tigers’ chances of turning the game around.

With White Plains’ next game on Friday against the (1-2) Ramapo Gryphons, this is a chance for the Tigers to go into a road game and secure their first win of the season, if the defensive scheme is adjusted to better stop or slow down the opposing team.
