Syracuse basketball may be closing in on five-star forward Moussa Kamissoko, and the recruiting experts are starting to agree.
On3’s Joe Tipton has projected the Bronx native to Syracuse. Now, recruiting analyst Neil Adler is reportedly hearing the same thing, adding to the growing optimism that Gerry McNamara could land one of the top prospects in the Class of 2027.
Adler recently said that he reached out to his own sources after seeing Tipton’s prediction. One national analyst responded: “Yeah, that’s what I’m hearing as well.”
Kamissoko has not committed anywhere yet. But if he would take Syracuse or the rest of the field in the recruitment, Adler offered this on “Locked on Syracuse.”
“I’m taking Syracuse.”
That’s a notable level of confidence in a recruitment that also includes major programs such as Illinois, Florida State and Oklahoma State. More importantly, it suggests the optimism surrounding Syracuse extends beyond a single national prediction.
Kamissoko took an official visit to Syracuse on September 3–4, which reportedly went well. Reports are that a decision could come in early October, although Kamissoko has not announced an official date.
The Orange have been pursuing the 6-foot-7 forward for nearly two years. Syracuse first offered him in December 2024 under Adrian Autry, and McNamara’s staff has continued the recruitment.
Kamissoko’s New York City roots make the possibility especially compelling. He previously played for Long Island Lutheran and has competed with the PSA Cardinals, a prominent grassroots program that Syracuse has recruited for years.
He also brings the kind of talent that could immediately raise the ceiling of McNamara’s program. Kamissoko is an athletic, versatile two-way prospect with NBA potential. He has the length to defend multiple positions and the ability to shoot from the perimeter.
For Syracuse, landing a five-star prospect from New York City would be more than a recruiting victory. It would be an early statement that McNamara can attract elite talent while trying to rebuild a program that has missed five consecutive NCAA Tournaments.
There is still work to do. Recruiting predictions are not commitments, and Kamissoko has other schools involved.
But the signs are becoming difficult to ignore.
A respected national analyst has projected Kamissoko to Syracuse. Another national source is reportedly hearing the same thing. And a recruiting reporter who has followed the pursuit closely is willing to take the Orange over everyone else.
Now Gerry McNamara has a chance to turn all that recruiting buzz into a five-star commitment.
