Syracuse basketball is similar to the legacy the New York Yankees have in baseball.

Duke is another commonly hated team, and for some of the same reasons as Syracuse. The Blue Devils always seem to win and get on national TV. Mike Krzyzewski always has some of the top recruits and Duke are often a championship favorite when the preseason rankings come out. And of course, Duke has more Final Fours and titles than Syracuse.
And so these two newly-minted rivals are a lot alike in this instance. So think about those feelings. These two teams always seem to be on top of their conference. 
Although frustrating for some, the Syracuse basketball legacy is what makes college basketball great. For Syracuse and Duke to play in the same conference and to play twice in a college basketball season… that is great too.¬†It is top talent against top talent and although some people may dislike both of the teams, Syracuse is a strong team for the reasons why people may dislike Syracuse.

Is that why our former players are going to Italy, the Philipines and the like?
I think there was an article written last spring about which coaches got their players ready for the NBA. JB was not in the top 10.
I think CUSE is “hated” because of JB. Too often people see the abrasive,sarcastic coach who may not be the best with x’s and o’s. Not saying that’s accurate..just the perception.
SU’s former players going overseas is testament to how good a coach Boeheim is. He has won consistently with players that aren’t of NBA caliber. Plus, whenever did the NBA become a standard for college basketball? All that matters is that he wins year in and year out no matter if he has McDonald’s All Americans or role players. Kinda why he is in the Hall of Fame dude….
Poughkeepsie is right on….in this world of cheaters/ con men / ego maniacs / self centered / over paid college coaches with no loyalty….we have been blessed with Jimmy! I went to school with him….he is what he is and we are damn lucky to have him. Be has built one hell of a program. Run it well and provided us years of enjoyment.
I don’t care what others think…mostly jealous of what he has accomplished.
We will miss him when he decides enough is enough….Thank you Jimmy!

Cuse doesn’t get all the all Americans.. Yes an occasional Mello or Cater -Williams…Jimmy recruits them to play the game the way he wants it played… He teaches them to play the zone and play as a team. Guys sit and rotate to satisfy the game Jimmy is coaching. He dresses them up in orange and white and wins 20 or more games… and takes us all with them to the NCAA Tournament. Some years we make it deep..some years we stumble…but nobody ever questions our right to be there.
But make one thing clear….when Cuse comes to play basketball, every team in America puts up all they got and knows their in for a game!
If that gives people reason to hate us …it’s easy to recognize envy.

Someone said a couple of years ago that Syracuse should fire Dr. Gross and then hire Jim Boeheim and let him finish his time at Syracuse University as athletic director. We all know that he can raise money for the school. It seems like a no brainer to me.

Everyone hates Syracuse University,but when Syracuse travel’s for an away game isn’t it funny that no matter who they play they always sell out the venue that they’re playing at.
I think the likes of Georgetown are just coming to realize just how much they miss playing Syracuse. I don’t think Georgetown or any of the old Big East teams have played to a sold out venue since the Big East split up.
Let them hate all they want,I’m loving them playing in the ACC. Crowds are fantastic.

Think of some of JB’s blow ups with the press.
JB had a run in with a security worker at the Jones arena in Charlottesville Va. after CUSE’s loss to Va.
Think of his early statements regarding the Bernie Fine fiasco. Or how about when CUSE moved to the ACC and JB talked down restaurants in the south.
Point being sometimes he speaks first and thinks second. Often you can do that as a ball coach but I don’t think one would get far as an AD.
Please don’t get me wrong. JB is a GREAT basketball mind and a good coach. I feel he is a very real person, generous…it’s just people don’t know how to “take him ” sometimes with his very dry sense of humor.

a)blow ups with the press—-look you just gOt blown out by your opponent,go into the post game and face the sports writers that set there like friggin idiots and ask their stupid questions about the game to the person who was running the show. Not smart. They should be warned before they enter the press conference. Damn they ask stupid questions even when he wins a game.
b) blow up with a security worker— how do we know that the other person involved didn’t say something derogatory to him about the team as they walked to the dressing room after the game? If he/she did,then why didn’t the press report something about them?
c)about the Bernie Fine statement—-isn’t it funny that maybe Jim Boeheim was correct in what he said. No charges have been brought against Bernie Fine, NONE!!! Where’s Gloria Alred been? I haven’t seen her shooting her mouth off on tv in over 2 years. How many of you out there have got someone they can call a friend that’s lasted for over 30 years? How many? Wouldn’t you want your friend of 30 years backing you up in public when the whole world is against you? That took nerve and I for one was happy that he did that.
