PARAMUS, NJ – If you are a New York Giants fan living in New Jersey, this past weekend’s Don Bosco Prep and Paramus Catholic matchup was for you. You may find yourself asking, why would a Giants fan even care about a local high school football game? Well, this weekend’s Friday night lights matchup in Paramus featured current and past ties to the New York Giants organization. Look on one side of the field, and you see the Giants of today, as the starting quarterback for the Ironmen, Carson Schoen, is the son of current Giants general manager Joe Schoen. Look across the field, and you’d see the Giants of the past, as the Paladins’ starting quarterback, Walker Snee, is the son of former offensive lineman Chris Snee and the grandson of former Giants head coach Tom Coughlin. Chris Snee and Tom Coughlin were both part of the Giants’ past two Super Bowl victories.

The “Mini-Giant Bowl” was a game completely dominated by Ironmen from start to finish. In the opening drive, the Paladins pushed down the field and converted a 15-yard field goal for an early lead, but after those three points, it was all Ironmen from there, as they went on to score 35 unanswered points spanning four quarters. A late 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was the only touchdown the Ironmen defense allowed, as they cruised to a 35-9 victory to remain the only unbeaten team in the United Red Division.

Schoen and Snee both had solid performances. Schoen threw 15 pass attempts, completing 14 of those passes for 165 yards, and also had a rushing touchdown. Snee only threw for 73 yards but was the leading rusher for the Paladins, running for 83 yards on the ground.

Ca’Si Thomas continued his breakout junior season for the Ironmen. Thomas rushed for 120 yards and found the end zone three times, including the first two touchdowns of the game. Thomas now has two games this season with 120-plus yards and three touchdowns, and three games with 18 or more touches. The defense was anchored once again by Texas A&M commit Mikahi Allen, who had three sacks, a forced fumble, and ten total tackles. Allen now has 7.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and 30 tackles in just four games this season.

The Ironmen of Don Bosco return to action on 9/25 for their long-awaited matchup against St. Joseph, looking for revenge after their 24-21 state title loss last year.
