It would be wrong to bash the Syracuse football program over its lack of verbal commitments at this point in time. A lot can change between now and National Signing Day in February. It is a bit concerning however, that SU currently only has three verbals, which ranks tied for last in the ACC. The program is losing some of the momentum it had when 4-star running back Robert Washington committed in April. Bringing in more talent in 2016 might be the only way to get some of that back.
The Spring Game was a borderline disaster, bringing back 44 turned out to be one big farce and the over-under for wins next season is at 4.5. It doesn’t look like a program-altering change will come from the 2015 football season. This transformation that everyone around the Syracuse football program strives for will have to start with recruiting.
Receiving other verbal commitments from players who want to turn the program around (like Washington does) can help get some of the momentum back that the program had when Washingron first committed. If the 4-star running back choosing SU has as big of an umbrella recruiting effect as some people think than that can help change the program. If SU receives commitments from some of the talented Florida players Bobby Acosta and Joe Adam offered last week than that has the potential to change the program as well. Imagine if Syracuse landed 4-star Texas cornerback Jared Mayden; that too could begin a major change.
These are all ifs for now though. The SU coaches need to see more results in recruiting this cycle for the program to truly begin the climb back to national relevance. Three verbal commits right before June is not going to cut it.

panic does nobody any good.
But it is both disappointing and concerning to see what is going on with recruiting.
We find ourselves last in the ACC based on numbers of recruits. If Washington hadn’t given his verbal
there would be a collective pant soiling. Duke has a very strong class coming in- both numbers AND quality
according to all recruiting services. So why, with a new IPF, are we struggling?
Last year, 15 recruits of last year’s middle of the road class gave a verbal by the 4th of July.
Alot of catching up to do…just to be average.

best recruiting class in almost 60 years isn’t good enough all of a sudden? Have the best player in the history of the program as part of the class thats not good enough?
class is top 10 at worst probably top 5.
they are just waiting to poach a few kids from bama/lsu/ohio state because at this point nobody can stop acosta and su recruiting.
