As Syracuse gets set to take on a surprisingly tough Central Michigan squad on the road, here’s three bold predictions:
1) Terrel Hunt Throws for Over 180 Yards
Hunt¬†only accomplished this feat four times last season, but after last week‚Äôs ejection the redshirt junior has a major point to prove. Last week Central Michigan allowed 204 passing yards against Purdue, the team picked to finish¬†last in the Big 10 by every analyst at CBS Sports. CMU‚Äôs defense will surely try to get under Hunt’s skin once again, but he knows now what is at stake and will come back from his ejection with a strong performance in the air. ¬†He has assured Orange fans he will not lose his cool again. Look for him to have a solid day through the air.
2) Central Michigan RB Thomas Rawls Fails to Reach 100 Yards
This season the Chippewa senior has rushed for 121 yards against Chattanooga, and 155 yards against Purdue (plus three touchdowns). Scott Shafer compared the 5‚Äô10″, 217-pound power rusher to Adonis Ameen-Moore this week. Rawls‚Äô 100-yard streak will end today because Syracuse can handle gritty and strong backs. The Orange struggled with Villanova quarterback John Robertson because of his speed and elusiveness. Rawls beats opponents with muscle, which is something the Orange can stop. Wayne Williams will make his debut and most likely play alongside Eric Crume to add size and strength to the interior of the defensive line. These two players will be responsible for making sure Rawls does not have a big day.
3) Steve Ishmael Catches at least Five Passes
True freshman¬†Steve Ishmael¬†jumped ahead of senior receiver Jarrod West in this weeks Syracuse depth chart. West led the Orange with five receptions for 59 yards against Villanova so don‚Äôt expect his playing time to be too limited. That said, the SU coaching staff clearly likes what they saw from Ishmael‚Äôs debut and wants him targeted more often. Hunt should have a good day in the passing game, and he’ll look to¬†get Ishmael involved early in today‚Äôs game.

A college qb should pass for 180 yards everygame…unless he plays for Army. Hunt should do that in his sleep
Let’s raise the bar and expect more.
Rawls doesn’t get 100? I think he does as we haven’t showed that we can stop the run unless you’re basing that on last year’s team.
No Bromley, no Spruill. Rawls might get 105 yards- we just can’t let him get 125 on 22 carries as that shows THEY are moving the chains
and we’re not stopping them on 3rd down…like NOVA a few weeks back.
Ishmael gets 5 receptions…fine and dandy. But what we need to see is someone like West or Fundaburke getting 3 receptions for 68 yards.
Yardage chunks in the passing game will prove McDonald has at least a vision of a big boy offense.
From listening to the players and some of the coaches when evaluating practices and the 1st game, we’ve been coasting up to now.
We need to play with urgency and intensity wrapped up in competence. We either have it or it’s going to be a long season. By 3 this afternoon….

I have to admit, The Cuse looked good today. Hunt was very productive. Offensive line looked great. One concern I have is for our field goal kicking and kick offs…….No leg strength……..Will cost us a game this year, for sure…. Running backs looked good. Amin-Moore looked great…Phillips looked great. Not sold on the Prince…..

Cornerbacks didn’t look good vs CMUs receivers.
But there WAS intensity…urgency. And we SO need these things because the talent is really not there yet.

Terry was wrong.. cmichigan was pretty bad
They were so bad it was hard to take much from the game.
The Oline looked better..D-line and blitzing worked well against a weak Oline.
Running backs all looked good behind the Oline…running game better than I expected.
I agree with Orangeinva..Hunt looks slow and sluggish..will be a problem against good ACC teams.
In the end.. Good win..congratulations to the kids. … our kids made them look real bad!

here’s my take on today’s game;
Central Michigan’s stadium was gorgeous The fans were really friendly,met some fans that graduated from Syracuse University and now lives in Michigan.. The Central Michigan Marching Band was something to watch. They were really good and put on a great show.
Onto the game,I made predictions on the game a couple of weeks ago.I predicted a) if Syracuse were to win it would be close 17-14,boy I didn’t expect a 40-3 win over Central Michigan. b) I said it would be a dog fight and it wasn’t. Syracuse dominated the game for 3 1/2 qtrs. c) I also predicted that this game could be won by Central Michigan by a score of 38-17. Just letting you all know” I WAS WRONG ON ALL THREE OF THOSE PREDICTIONS”
Our Oline and DLine was a different/improved unit on Saturday than what they were two weeks ago against Villanova.. Our Offense produced over 400 yards of offense. We had a balanced attack(that is Syracuse Football) with over 200 yards rushing and 200 yards passing. Adonis Mean Moore was the animal that we all thought he could be with 9 rushes for 105 yards. But I know your not going to like the following statement,but Terrel Hunt wasn’t as good as everyone thought he would be. His passing game is still suspect and he did have a couple of good runs. I was surprised to see the true freshmen,Zaire Franklin,Jamal Custis and a couple of others playing in the game. I thought Ashton Broyld,Brisely Estime and ERVIN PHILLIPS looked really good. Phillips got the majority of carries in the game today. Must be George Morris III and Devante MacFarland are not producing in practices,neither saw much playing time on Saturday. The receivers were catching the ball helping Hunt to look goof today. Seeing the team in the white uniforms looked great. Will probably see the gray unis next Saturday against Maryland.
Our defense held Central Michigan to just 3 points for the game,won the turn over battle and scored 10 points in the game.
If Syracuse should beat Maryland on Saturday and go 3-0 then the game against ND should be really interesting.
Just think now guys Louisville and Va Tech both got beat this weekend. After watching them play last week I didn’t think they would lose at all.

Your wish(Gross gone would however be a nice change)might be closer than you realize. Rumor going around campus is the new chancellor is getting rid of all of Nancy Cantors cronies. However I’m not putting to much into it because the new chancellor is spending money faster than the printing presses can print it.
The university just spent another $1 million on the renovation of the chancellor’s mansion and he’s complaining that his private box in the dome isn’t big enough and has to be enlarged with a new seating arrangement with new seats put into it. Go figure,right!!!!!!!!!!!
