It‚Äôs getting pretty repetitive now: another day, another recruit.¬†¬†Wednesday¬†brought in the Orange’s 23rd¬†commitment, and it came at a much-needed position.
Wide receiver West Lindor verbally pledged to Syracuse¬†on Wednesday¬†and bolstered a recruiting class that was a little shallow in the “skill players” department.¬† Lindor is a 2-star, 6‚Äô4‚Äù, 205-pound wideout.¬† He chose the Orange over a cluster of lesser schools like Arkansas State, Dartmouth and Southeast Missouri State.
Lindor is officially the first wide receiver to pledge Orange for 2015, although he could potentially join K.J. Williams, who was deemed academically ineligible for the upcoming season last week.
While Lindor will not have any impact on this coming season, his commitment is a relief, as the team could really use some help in pass-catching.  Last season’s wide receiving core was abysmal, which could be attributed to both the Orange’s rookie quarterback situation and strength in the run game.
At 6’4”, Lindor would actually be one of the tallest receivers on the roster today.  While the Orange have a lot of depth guys, what they lack is size on the outside.  The team is seemingly filled with speedy, slot receivers but lacks a player who can go up and get the ball.  The only two receivers listed on the official Syracuse roster taller than Lindor will be first-year players: Jamal Custis and Adly Enoicy.
While this pickup is certainly filling a future need for the Orange, one has to wonder how exactly Coach Shafer is going to fit all of these players on the roster.  With National Signing Day still over four months away, there are plenty of high schoolers that the Orange has offered.  Some of the players could choose Syracuse, but at this pace, the recruiting class of 2015 could balloon much higher than any in recent memory.  Shafer has done a good job of persuading recruits to pick Orange, but he needs to start reeling in the big fish before the class is full.

i will say this, syracuse must have made some serious impressions out on the road recruiting this year. they were not even close to the amount of verbal commitments at this time last year. all i can see is a program thats on the rise and a program thats determined to be successful without waiting for no one.i am so pumped for syracuse football and so proud of our coaches for doing a great job building this team..
I agree 100% with the Sackster on this one!! It is great to be wanted!! Next task, reel in some higher rated recruits!! That should come if we continue to win on the field, that is the key‚Ķas Al Davis was famous for saying‚Ķ.”Just Win baby”!!!
With 4 months to go before NSD,it’s really exciting to see Syracuse have so many recruits give their verbals this early in the year. It tells me that the coaches are doing something right while recruiting these kids and that they are taking notice of Syracuse again.
Jason has made the statement ‚Äúthere are plenty of high schoolers that the Orange has offered. Some of the players could choose Syracuse‚Äù and he’s right. I don’t think it’s over and believe that we will have over 30 recruits giving us their verbals. Remember a verbal isn’t binding until NSD and doesn’t mean a thing. We have room for 3 more recruits before the class is full. Coach Shafer and crew is going to have to make some hard decisions and probably release some of these kids if we exceed that magical 25 number this early in the year OR Coach Shafer finds a way to keep and save all of them.
Decisions,decisions,decisions,isn’t it grand to be in a position to be forced to make one to keep a kid that you’ve recruited? It’s really going to be interesting heading into February.
I watched this kids highlight tape and to me his highlights show a TE/LB. I say he and Enoicy likely both play tight end. This class could use a quarterback but other than that we are fine at skill positions we have 2 Rbs already committed and a slew of secondary players but I do agree this class is trench heavy with the 5 O-linemen

I believe the St Louis area is one where CUSE wants a presence..like S Fla., Joisey,
Chicago etc. some good talent comes out of there.
Prater and Winfield(I think) from last year’s class are from that area.
This “combo stuff is crap. I prefer to see a kid like Custis ,Lindor and Enoicy play at the WR position as a WR and not some work in progress TE possibility Currently we have MaPherson and Provo in at the TE position and Josh Parris as well even though he has no speed worth talking about. I want to see one of these combo players use their height down field and reel in some deep passes and go from there. Provo andMacky might be the best options at the pure TE spot at this time Use them there and use the projects at their best position now.
I don’t see alot of downfield passes to TE’s with this fast paced offense. Parris
has soft hands and can get open. The coaches thought enough about the TE’s that they moved Batten to LB. If they need a fast receiver at the TE position to keep up with the offense, I suspect Broyld could fill that role on certain sets.
Can’t say much about West, don’t know much, but I wonder what this means for/about Alex Parkison, a Y receiver that seemed high on our board, and seemed to lean our way. Did he wait too long? Is West just a better option? Parkinson was thought to be a silent verbal at one point.
Definitely want larger targets for qbs. They can make the difference for some offenses. Even if all they end up doing is moving the chains on third down or getting some redzone catches its a plus. Since the Orange can’t truly compete for blue chip wr talent, we have to hope we can mine out some diamonds and coach them up.
Malone is right!! This might effect the TE from NJ!! High on SU’s board at one time.
But also the new pickup is really a solid NR maybe a 2 star?? So it means nothing for SU when top programs at this time of year don’t even sniff at him. Only way lesser programs jumped on him!! ANOTHER GAMBLE for HCSS!! SU needs players now not to develop them later!! GEZ!!
DO NOT FORGET THE KIDS OF PSABUSEDU!! THE NCAA DID!!
I forgot to mention Kendall Moore who is only a sophmore and played as a true freshman. Moore is 6’5″ and probably 260 lbs.now. With Parris for 2 years and Moore for 3 years, TE in 2015, is not as pressing a need as I once thought. Enoicy
won’t be rushed and Provo/McPherson can develop into reliable backups. I still would like Picard or Parkinson here. They seem to be more of a downfield threat than Parris or Moore. They both will need two years at SU getting bigger. Parkinson’s competition in Westchester is weak. Picard certainly lines up against better players in NJ. A verbal from Picard will pay more dividends in the future by having more NJ players consider SU.
