For a kid who has over 15 Division I scholarship offers to play college football, defensive tackle Tyler Cross has not received much love nationwide.
But maybe it was meant to be this way.
The Douglasville, Georgia native committed to Syracuse last Wednesday. Cross is the second defensive tackle added to the class alongside Giudice, and he is part of a Peach State duo with Christopher Fredrick. According to Scout’s Mike McAllister, Cross is a heavy lifter with a 330-pound bench and 550-pound squat listing. The Fizz would like to apologize for missing out on this grab for SU, though Cross’ addition to the 2015 class was awfully low key.
Cross’ Twitter says he has accumulated full rides from tons of ACC and SEC schools. Scout lists his offers from Georgia State, Memphis, Sanford and UCF.¬† To the best of our ability, The Fizz has been unable to locate any of those other top-notch schools, except, of course, Syracuse.
Cross wasn’t even rated on recruiting sites—a similar scenario for commit Anthony Giudice, a defensive tackle who gauged SU’s  interest at an invite-only high school camp. Say what you want about star ratings and recruiting rankings, but when Syracuse wants a guy—whether it’s a 4-star stud or 2-star sleeper—the program is going to make every effort to snag him.
The commitments for this class continue to roll in like a freight train. The newest class picked up linebacker Doyle “Biggie” Grimes over the weekend. In the span of one month, Syracuse has added 12 recruits to a class of 22.
Our apologies for Cross’ oversight, Syracuse fans. Almost seems like his recruitment was meant to go under the radar. Very little recognition, but again a get Shafer and company bought into. Sometimes these types of players make the best storylines once they step on the Carrier Dome turf.
**The Fizz intends to make every effort to contact Cross to uncover his story on committing.**

His high school coach tsays that we got a real gem in Tyler Cross. His size, speed and strenght makes him a force that’s going to reckoned with before graduation in 4/5 years. Looks like he’s following in the path of Jason Bromley who was overlooked by all of the so called pundits and is now playing in the NFL. I look for Tyler to gain more weight/muscle before he’s through and will probable level out around 315 lbs.
Welcome to the ORANGENATION Tyler Cross, the fans of the orangemen are going to fall in love with you and show all kinds of respect. Good luck to you and please give em all hell young man.
Ok fella’s you have to read the latest post on syr.com aboutow syracuse stacks up with the rest of the ACC. I didn’t know until now that Syracuse has recruited (2)4* players and (16)3* players out of the 22 that have verbaled to us.
Plus they’re saying that some of the recruiting wesites are slow to evaulate the recruits and that’s the reason for all of the unranked players. Wow,that’s a ton of new information to absorb.
