The commitment tally increased to seven over the weekend for Syracuse football in a really big way. The Orange added a trio of powerful offensive linemen, one of which is 6’4”, 301-lb. bulldozer Sam Clausman.
Clausman pledged SU with just one other Division 1 offer, Marshall, but told The Fizz he could not help but committing due to strong influence from his Saint Thomas Aquinas teammate and, of course, Syracuse’s offensive general:
“Colin (Byrne) told me before practice he had committed. I called my mom and told her. I really wanted to commit. My original plan was to commit after my unofficial (visit), but since my best friend committed, I just wanted to guarantee my commitment to Syracuse. I went to my head coach, Coach (Rocco) Casull. Then we called Coach McDonald and told him.” 
The Mailman strikes again. McDonald served as both Clausman and other Fort Lauderdale OL commit Colin Byrne’s main recruiters. Immediate chances to compete, which have become a commonality amongst most recruits, attracted Clausman: 
“Coach McDonald said there would definitely be some opportunities for early playing time and that’s what I’m really looking forward to.”
The Orange picked up two O-Line commits in the 2014 class. After Denzel Ward and Aaron Roberts, it’s a mystery searching for clues to protect the quarterback. With the additions of Clausman and company, Syracuse is well on its way to building an unbreakable force field along the offensive line.

The thing I like(besides their size)is it seems that these young men have a head on their shoulders and are able to figure out what most schools won’t tell them. All three said they have the oppurtunity for immediate playing time. Finally we’re getting recruits that have sense enough to figure it out. Syracuse if the place to be at.
To all three of Friday’s recruits,”WELCOME TO THE ORANGENATION”. Going to enjoy watching all of you mature into NFL caliber players.
yeah these lineman i think will be real good after a good year of coaching and strength program at syracuse.
I hate jumping the gun here fella’s,but looking forward to the 2016 season it looks like Syracuse will be fielding an OL averaging 6’4″ and 315 lbs. That’s an NFL OL if I ever saw one and it’s right here in good ole Syracuse NY. DR. Gross are you paying attention? Better get behind these guy’s and start supporting them. First thing is to give them all a pay raise.
What’s amazing is 4-5 years ago I thought everyone was going smaller,they were all saying 300 + pounders on the OL was just to big and slow.
300 pounders are fine and dandy, but speed, agility, intellect,strength, perseverance, tenacity are other traits to be desired. Wonder if these lads also have such characteristics.
Committing without seeing SU is yellow light in my eyes. A real sincere player(s) tests drive the program before buying it. Since day one something just does not smell right here!! They surely look the part, but at the same time there’s a lot of questions to be answered about them??
DO NOT FORGET THE KIDS OF PSABUSEDU!! THE NCAA DID!!
Is it really exclusive if he’s done interviews with the local newspaper, scout and rivals? Come on man
Very few if any offensive linemen start as freshmen . I expect this trio to red-shirt and be ready for the 2016 opening games to compete then but not in next fall’s depth chart unless something drastic changes the need progression.
Great teams are built in the trenches. I love that we are stacking up on quality O linemen.
