Although¬†the current Orange couldn’t capitalize over the weekend at MetLife Stadium¬†against Penn State, Syracuse reeled in its 11th commit to the 2014 class in West Haven, CT RB Ervin Phillips. The 5’11, 180 lb. speedster pledged SU¬†on Sunday¬†morning. Phillips was in attendance at the Meadolands and said the atmosphere was outstanding, obviously getting him excited enough to commit. ¬†He also said the ACC competition is something he’s looking forward to.
The Fizz¬†spoke with Phillips earlier during his recruitment. We even¬†dissected the top reasons why Syracuse needed to land him for this year’s class. He’s a huge get, especially for a kid from the state of Connecticut. The Orange is¬†trying to reestablish its connection there¬†and it’s good to see it’s starting to show.
Phillips fields just two offers: Syracuse and Temple. Despite visiting the Owls earlier this summer, Phillips tells The Fizz what it came down to:
