moving foward i’m hoping we can get these players mavety ol, witter rb, custis wr/te,broxton ol,williams wr,holley dl.. i like the coaches we have and beleive in the movement of this program. i also beleive our team is a little underrated and may surprise people this year. i’m hoping for a bowl game this year and feel its possible reguardless of what the experts say. see all at the dome and the meadowlands.
This is a bait and switch!! Thought I’d see some detailed article. Not one hot bit of info on SU recruiting. Hell the people on this site are more informed than those two bozos. No new names or nothing. Talked about recruits that are verbaled else where(Domer)(Sat’s show so their behind)!! Come DA you can do better than that!! That’s dog eared news!! I thought I saw somewhere that KJ Wms might commit today?Anyone else hear that?It seems like every time he’s ready to verbal someone else new offers!This time I heard the “U” was gonna offer him?I really don’t think we need him as there’s plenty of talent at WR out there!I wish AJ kept his promises to himself till they verbal and then take credit?
I find it interesting AJ being a vocal recruiter what kind of work he’ll put in to get Sean White,University School,Ft Lauderdale QB target?I think he’s even higher rated than AJ?Sean was impressive at an elite 11 camp!
I’m gonna venture a couple guesses who we may expect reasonably to get verbals from!!Lubern Figaro DB,Ish Witter TB,KJ Williams WR,either Ervin Philips or Harold Cooper RB from Conn and late in Process Mavety OT,JUCO.Later commit means we have the space over OSU and RU!Ollison?50/50 or RU/PSU/Wisc…Chris Slade MSU/RU or us 12% chance(He has a 1st cousin at RU from same hometown J.Pinnix-Odrick)…Ron,any guesses?Pick 5!!Sean White QB,Fla,University school has Wiscky in lead!!

I still believe that we have a shot at Chad Mavety,Russell. I believe the key to where Chad commits is Travis Lock. No one is mentioning the two as a package deal as you and I have talked about a couple of months ago.
Chris Slayton,Qadree Ollison,Lubern Figaro,Corey Holloway,Steven Ismael,Sammy Marshall,Jaquan McCullough,Juwann Winfree,Kurt Holuba are a few that I would like to see come here to play.
Russell I didn’t even mention any of the OT or OG’s that are still in play for 2014.
I know that you and I have discussed Winfree and Holuba before,but I feel these two could be the links that we’re missing if they were to commit.
A couple more things going for us Russell is,Syracuse has approximately 17 more spots to fill and it’s still early. All of us are overlooking the group of(Franklin,Long,Bennett,Cabinda and Moskal). With these 5 recruits helping Coach Shafer in talking to other recruits,could they bring in a 4* or 5* recruit that no one has heard of yet? That’s still a possibility?
Just like last year Russell,we all got worked up over the people that we were trying to recruit. We ended up getting recruits that had speed and size for the class of 2013. It’s early yet,yes we’ve had a couple of setbacks,but by the time it’s over and done with I believe that we’re all going to be real happy with the end results for the class of 2014.
I know,I got carried away again.
I still think well move into the top 48/52 area this year recruiting, we stll have lots of room for the 4* types here!I think were in it to the end with Mavety too…I’m just not as confident as I was a month ago!2 years ago these names aren’t even on the radar!!No way will we end up in high 60s low 70’s in recruiting!
My feelings have run the gammut this year. Earlier in the year when the names Shafer and crew were after was released(30 offers out to 4* recruits)I was so excited in thinking this might be the year for things to change. Then after the season dragged on and the recruits I thought were coming to Syracuse,committed to other schools,my excitement turned into frustration.
Terry has stated time in and time out,there has to be a reason that we’re not getting the top NYC/LI/NJ talent. I’m starting to feel that maybe he’s right and maybe an investagation should happen. If the NCAA doen’t want to look into Anthony Davis connection to these high school athletes,then maybe DA your staff ought to do some investagative reporting and start looking into the matter.
No matter what happens this year fella’s,my optimism tell’s me that everything is going to turn out alright for Coach Shafer and Syracuse University. I truly beieve that.
Ron,usually this time of year we only had a few diehard commenters till near labor day but this year seems to be different?A little excitement or “buzz” around here!!25 days till training camp!I wonder if Drew Allen’s working with the team yet?
Mavety and Ollison are game players=not fb players SU will miss out on both. TE is of great importance. Every decent SU team that played in SU history always had that “TE”. Still no real word on any of them except the ones SU lost on!!
Russ SU moved to to 71( from a 4 team tie at 72)recently. I just don’t see low the 50’s at all in Feb 2014. Maybe low 60’s, but that not rebuild or reloading that’s just bodies. I want to be wrong on this one so bad!!
I want some new blood recruits to talk about here as well. That’s why I was so excited about this articles headline.
PS I have been at times critcal of SU’s center Macky! Well he turned out OK!! At first and still a little bit I thought dougie put him in as a favor, but who is to know. He’ll need to man-up and be the signal caller for the OL. Good job Macky. If your critical and right its does not always feel good being a homer fan like me. If your wrong you admit it. Its easlier to say wants on your mind if your believe it one way or the other.

When I first posted about the new recruit,Travis Lock,that Syracuse was after,Russell rebutted(strongly)the size the article indicated he was.
I then watched the tape on Travis,and the first thing I noticed was the monster of a lineman running down field throwing blocks for Lock. I followed Russells rebuttel by asking if he thought the real target was Chad Mavety and might take both players as a package deal?
Your article is a good one,but I feel Chad Mavety if he comes here will be a game changer. Now I agree with you on Ollison,any player that holds themselves higher than the team,thinking their better than everyone else,isn’t worth a damn as far as I’m concerned,don’t need that type of player here because I feel that they would bring disruption to the team and trouble to the university. I can’t hollar,CUT THE KID LOSE,LET HIM GO,loud enough.

I’ve read where the FSU Booster club has brought back Bobby Bowden to head the club and speak to FSU supporters across the country during fund raising events.
Bobby Bowden and FSU are synonmous and will forever be linked. Classy move by the Boosters,Coach Bowden needs to be there.
The biggest mistake they ever made was thinking BB was past it!!Its not as easy to win as most fan’s think!!I’m glad they see the value in the old W.Virginian!!

No Russell,Travis Lock hasn’t committed to anyone yet.
Usally when a player is on the “quiet” side and has an interest in SU his chances are good he’ll be a CUSE!!! Lately (the last 10yrs lets say) if there’s noise around the kid kiss him good bye. It ain’t very loud but its there, around Mavety. No matter how well be blocks for Lock, Mavety a no show!! He’s a beast and SU needs him and I want him for SU’s OL. I hope I’m wrong??
The rumor has it that dougie and his NYC/LI contacts butted heads last few years. dougie couldn’t understand why they were ignoring his requests. So dougie must of thought it would of been a walk in the park!! But his history says he had no fun ib that park!!
I like some of the quieter kids like Zaire and Cabinda..they tend to be serious kids!
