Quarterback A.J. Long has already committed to Syracuse in 2014, and now he may have a target in Trevon Lee from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Syracuse has made an offer to the wide receiver from Cardinal Gibbons High School. Lee is a three-star recruit, according to Rivals, but a four-star recruit for ESPN’s Recruiting Nation.
Lee stands at 5‚Äô11‚Äù and 167 lbs., and runs a 4.49 40. He has good speed that can frustrate defenders. While the backfield should be SU’s strength for awhile, George McDonald knows wide receivers, and is trying to stockpile possible go-to guys.
Lee had 11 touchdowns his junior year and caught 36 passes for 706 yards. He averaged 19.6 yards per reception, clearly a big play threat. Syracuse has yet to land a wide receiver for this class. It has already received commitments from four linebackers, a defensive back and of course, Long at quarterback.
Long is talking about winning the ACC in 2014 and adding playmakers would help the cause.¬†But it won’t be easy. Lee he has a long list of offers. Some great academic schools rank high for Lee.¬†California, Duke, Nebraska, Stanford and Vanderbilt are all listed atop Lee‚Äôs Rivals schools, and all have made offers. Arkansas, Auburn, BC, Clemson, Illinois, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri, NC State, Purdue, Rutgers, South Carolina, USF, USC, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Wisconsin have also all made offers.
It’s a very lengthy list, but he will come up with a top five by the end of the month reportedly. While SU has Long to throw him passes, Stanford has landed quarterback Keller Chryst from Palo Alto, CA. He was the No. 2 quarterback in the Class of 2014 according to Rivals.
Orange Nation is hoping by the end of July, Syracuse makes his top 5 cut.

Aren’t taller receiver’s in vogue?Not that you have to be but the best athletes today are usually the 5’8”to 5’11” CB’s so most team’s are looking TALL for WR?Lee’s academic’s appear in order maybe we use at kick and punt returner?
Desean Jackson is one of the best wide outs in the NFL. He is only 5″10. Speed kills and this guy has some.

Percy Harvin is 5″11, Devin Hester is 5″11, Santana Moss is 5″10, Steve Smith from Giants is 5″11, Santonio Holmes is 5″11, Eddie Royal is 5″10, Greg Jennings is 5″11, Steve Smith from Panthers is 5″9, and Wes Welker is 5″9.

I know I have to wait until spring practices start(2014)and the Spring Football Scrimmage Game before I see the kid play. It’s a small price I’m willing to pay and I think it’s going to be worth the wait.

The latest article indicated two things to me. He didn’t have enough credits and he didn’t score well enough on the SAT/ACT tests.
Well not having enough credits wasn’t totaly his fault. Where was his academic advisor making sure everything he needed for college was in order?
From what I’ve always been told,taking the SAT/ACT tests are incredibly hard. I think he missed a couple three questions that kept him from obtaining a high enough score.
He’s doing the right thing now Dubs and can’t wait for him to start in 2014. I got the feeling he’s going to be a good one.

KJ is supposed to declare this week. Michigan has already got 3 verbals from receivers so all signs lean to the Cuse.
Height isn’t critical as the ability to separate from the defender.Speed and quickness trump height here by a wide margin. Good hands are a given requirement regardless of stature.

Trevon says Duke and Vandy have been recruiting him the hardest.
I have not heard much buzz from us on him lately. It is possible he is a deep option (KJ, Ishmael, priority 1&2 and don’t forget Cooper is now a ’14 guy.) Think Christian Blake is as much an option. Kid sounds great, but unless there is a quiet but great relationship and we are in his top three, I don’t see it happening. He has too many quality offers and we have too many out to commit the kind of effort. Jamal Custis is out there too. He is being recruited as a TE, but he seems the pass catching kind more than blocking kind. skill guys are valuable, but I am not seeing 4-5 of them in this class.
Ron you can also teach a kid all he/she needs to know about qualifing for college entrence, but he/she still has to finish the project. Intelligence is a god given talent as well as what Bo Jackson had on the playing field. No matter what you think some players have issues with learning and others just don’t want to put any energy into acedemics. I’m one to talk. Got through college, but it was a job and a half. Yes SAT/ACT are difficult and very stressful. If you “have to” pass them for college entrence that’s like tackling Bo Jackson in the open field. He just needs to get at it now or forget about. 1. Funderburke trumps any recruit on the team, and KJ Williams. So give the horses in th stable a chance. Clark, West, kobena, & a trio from the ’12 & ’13 class who have yet to play. I’m optimistic that one of the 4-6 (6’1″+) WRs will step up! Broyld as well…I doubt a frosh wr could even break the rotation this season. So… k.I.m.

Rashon Gary is 6’3 265 lbs at the age of 14. He will be the best and I mean the best prospect D-lineman from NJ ever. Rutgers has been on this kid since he was in the seventh grade. RU is ahead of everybody else but this kid is only a freshmen. Mom wants kid to stay in the Northeast so we will see.

One of the mothers of a team mate of my oldest granddaughters softball team invited other members and their families over too her mothers house for an impromptu swimming in the pool and real nice cook out for everone in attendance.

Before I left Russell I told her hold happy I was to meet her and how honored and thrilled I was because of that meeting. Before leaving to go back to the ballpark,I turned shook her hand put my arms around her and give kisses on the cheek and forehead. I will never forget Saturday afternoon and meeting a woman(retired)Master Sergant.
