Syracuse football’s hot stretch of recruiting commitments has continued in recent days, and Team Fizz has continued to debate whether Doug Marrone is advancing the program. Some are getting restless that the Orange isn’t landing any four-star prospects. Others are happy with a steadily increasing list of talented but lower-rated commits.

In the latest Fresh FizzCast, Hoffman says that the spotlight stays on the major recruits Syracuse has failed to land because it’s important for the Orange to haul in at least a couple four-stars per class.
“People ask all the time, ‘Why are you guys still talking about Ishaq? Why are you guys still talking about David Perkins? Why are you guys still talking about Chad Kelly? We get it, Syracuse didn’t get them.’ Well those are the recruits that Syracuse needs to get.”
ESPN’s Steve Bunin hopped aboard the FizzCast as the conversation turned to crime in sports. The SU alum, who contributes to the Outside the Lines, cautions people not to jump to conclusions with Fab Melo.
“You can’t necessarily suspend Fab Melo when he may have in fact done nothing wrong. You have to wait until the authorities figure it out.”
Bunin also weighs in on why crime is seemingly more prevalent among athletes than in the past.
Towards the end of the FizzCast, we break down Syracuse basketball’s chances to land Georgia Tech transfer Brian Oliver. I believe that if the sharpshooter comes to SU, he’ll diversify the Orange’s offense.
“Syracuse doesn’t have too many guys that you really think of as knock-down shooters. That’s exactly what Oliver is. You bring in him along with Trevor Cooney, and all of a sudden you can put two guys out on the floor that can really space it out. That’s really something that’s been missing for the most part for Syracuse.”

Just got finished listening to the FizzCast program on recruiting. This debate about where SU is in terms of recruiting is a good one. While listening, I see a tweet that says Jaron Jones decommits from Penn St. but is no longer interested in the Cuse and has Penn St. and Notre Dame going head to head.
It appears that the Cuse will be in a battle with Notre Dame again for another 5 star NY recruit. Jones is the kind of recruit that DA, Hoffman, and everyone at the Fizz is Lusting over. As Cuse fans, we have to ask ourselves, why are all of these recruits so in love with Notre Dame and not us? Grob, of all people, beat Notre Dame at Notre Dame not too long ago.
The most recent products that Notre Dame has put on the field have not been that impressive even with all the 4 and 5 star talent that they habitually attract.
Yet, all these recruits are in love with Notre Dame. I think Floyd Little was the last time we beat out Notre Dame head to head for a recruit.
SU has a lot to offer any recruit but we are not the sexy destination that 5 star talent is looking for apparently. The University and Academics is solid, but what can we develop, that we currently don’t have, that will impress recruits? 5 star recruits are like Kim Kardashian,they are popular, good looking, and they can date anyone they want to. Why should they say say yes to SU?
SU has to be able to give them something that they feel they can’t get anywhere else. They have so many choices: Penn St. Notre Dame, Alabama, Florida, Stanford, LSU,Florida State,Michigan,Ohio State, Oklahoma,and………… SYRACUSE! These are the options that the “Big Fish” have.
If we want to compete in that kind of arena, then we have to upgrade our entire program from top to bottom, if you want to lock up Kim Kardashian, you need at least 2 Million $$$$$$ for an engagement ring! Just because you want them doesn’t mean they
want you back! Keeping it real. Go Cuse…

Athlete David Perkins declined to declare he was totally done with the recruiting process despite being committed to Notre Dame.
“I kind of think it’s a commitment, but you only get to do this once,” said Perkins, who plays in Notre Dame’s backyard at South Bend (Ind.) Washington.
Perkins, the 39th-best athlete prospect in the country, admitted he had strong interest in Michigan State, Tennessee, Oregon, Penn State and Syracuse before committing to the Fighting Irish last month” from espn.
Also i saw a post on zagblog about DC and it was about how he may not be coming to SU in ’12 and qoutes some coach at a camp. Awful news. If `Cuse lose him to UK I hope JB has the NCAA beating down the door in lex. B/c they proably would have paid him. Cal is a sumbag.
