This past weekend the Syracuse football program welcomed a host of players for an evaluation camp. Over 20 high school players made the trip to the Hill. The SU staff looked at seven quarterbacks including 2016 target Jarrett Collins who the Fizz spoke with earlier this week.
A second quarterback who came up was 2017 QB Kasim Hill out of Maryland. Hill attended a Syracuse camp back in 2013 as an incoming high school freshman and Scott Shafer offered him a scholarship. Hill is 6’2’’ and weighs 220 pounds. In addition to Syracuse he has offers from Michigan State and Boston College. Watch his tape here.
Syracuse has struggled to bring in a 2016 quarterback this cycle. After Terrel Hunt graduates SU will have Austin Wilson, AJ Long, Troy Dungey and Kenterius Womack to potentially play under center. It might appear that the Orange will be all set at quarterback in 2016, but the coaches have continued to recruit the position. A Hill commitment would add some depth to the Orange’s future quarterback crop, but would be a year later than the SU coaches want right now.
The 2016 QB search is ongoing; Syracuse could end up having a quarterback sign on in February and also receive a commitment from Hill. SU is currently recruiting Florida’s Rex Culpepper and Michigan’s Joshua Jackson. The future of the QB position for the Orange should become clearer once Culpepper and Jackson commit.

syracuse is playing it slow in this class.
they haven’t rec’d a commit from a qb because they aren’t seeking one yet.
Once the fall comes they will start deciding what kids they are interested in and if they want to really go after them or not. At this point they are still just window shopping.

“The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Rex Culpepper is rated three stars and the 26th-best pro-style quarterback in his class by 247Sports.com’s composite rankings. He has offers from Ohio State, Clemson, Florida, Miami and Mississippi State, among others, according to 247Sports.com, after throwing for 2,016 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior.
I’ve always maintained that the recruiting process was finicky and that you had to stroke these kids egos and I thought that Syracuse didn’t have a chance with this kid. I mean after all his father played for the Florida Gators and had an NFL career that lasted 16 years.
I want to welcome Rex Culpepper to the Orange Nation. I know he’s going to love his time here and so will the fans.

Depending on who you ask, Culpepper had offers from Clemson, Ohio State, Florida, Miami, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and more. So just going by the company you keep, it’s a huge get for the Orange. Especially when you consider that he’ll be coming to SU as part of the same backfield that will include RB Robert Washington.

I mean really,with statements like”with these three recruiting classes in a row anything less then three NC in the next 5/6 years would be a disappointment really.” I’m wondering with all the talent that Alabama and Florida St. had on their(2014) teams if the fans are in total denial because neither team won the 2015 NCAA National Championship. I’m sure that the entire Oregon Duck Fan base was pleasantly pleased when that 2* QB Marcus Mariota committed to play for their university and sad/depressed when he left school early for the NFL Draft and happy/giddy/cheerful again when he was drafted as the second pick in this years draft.

Ron…Fla Steve? Terry? I really liked and miss Terry’s negative sincerity!! Whatever happened to that smallish local upstate RB that went to BC? Since NJ’s Jonathan Hilliman went there I never heard about him again!?! I hope Terry hasn’t given up since were not recruiting JUCO’s anymore!?!
