Monday Recruiting Roundup: Syracuse Interested In 2 Linebackers & A Hotshot Quarterback

Find out about the new players on the Orange’s radar.

Two weeks ago Bobby Acosta and Joe Adam offered scholarships to a whole bunch of 2016 Florida recruits. Last week the SU coaching staff did not focus on a specific region offering high school players from Pennsylvania, Illinois and California.

Starting in Pennsylvania, 2016 3-star linebacker recruit Tymar Sutton received a Syracuse offer Saturday. The Orange was Sutton’s 14th offer. The other power five schools interested are Boston College, Maryland, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Sutton stands at 6’0’’ and weighs 207 pounds. He also plays quarterback for his McKeesport high school team. Watch his tape here.

Over in Illinois, the Orange showed interest in another linebacker last week. Quentin Jones plays for Simeon in Chicago and tweeted a picture of himself with the Carrier Dome in the background titled “Syracuse Showing Some Love.” Jones is 5’10’’ and weighs 200 pounds. Simeon may sound familiar to Syracuse fans; it is the same high school that redshirt freshman offensive lineman Denzel Ward attended. One other interesting fact about Jones is that he wears 44 for Simeon. It is unclear if Jones has been officially offered by Syracuse because he is not ranked on any major recruiting sites, but the photoshopped image definitely means there is interest. Watch his tape here.

Finally, Syracuse offered 4-star 2017 California quarterback Tristan Gebbia this week. Gebbia is the real deal. He already has offers from Alabama and Arizona State. Syracuse has had trouble recruiting quarterbacks this cycle, but getting the California QB interested in the program could make fans forget about the coaching staff’s struggles in that area. Gebbia is 6’3’’, 180 pounds and has a cannon for an arm. He is a long shot to land at Syracuse, but should be at the top of every fan’s wish list.

The QB shows potential..2 years from now he graduates high school.
The PA LB has good strength and speed. How good would he be concentrating on
    playing LB only?
The Illinois LB shows me nothing on his tape.

qb isn’t a need in this class you have to remember syracuse pulled in two five star talents last class. Womack is also the early favorite for the heisman in 2016 and 2017 and already consider the top player in the 2018 draft so anyone coming in this next season won’t see the field for two years anyway.

Well Tebow you’re only stating the obvious here regarding Womack and the Heisman.
It’s common and accepted knowledge that Womack will take over for Hunt in game 5
and turn pro after winning the Heisman after the 2016 season. As a result we will need the
kid from California if he is wise enough to take CUSE up on the offer. There he’ll get 2 years of tutelage
under Lester before the OC takes the same position for the Buffalo BiIlls.

you have it all wrong, womack has to be at SU for three years and just won’t get the snaps needed in 2015.

However it 2016 he will win the heisman

then repeat in 2017 and then turn pro after his third year and be the top overall pick because he is the single greatest athlete in the history of SU or any program for that matter.

They’ll still have dungey for the two years following womack historically run and dungey will slide in as the heir and will no doubt be a heisman candidate in 2018,2019 before being a number one overall pick himself.

Have to remember though they still have the Brown kid from NJ and the Moore kid from Texas. Both are heavy SU leans if the interest comes from SU they just haven’t shown they are really interested yet.
Either way expect to have 2/3 elite qb’s on the roster every year after this year its not even a concern at this point.
