When I launched the Fizz back in the summer of ’08, it was born out of frustration and contempt for Groobers. He had pile-driven the once respectable Syracuse football program into the ground, and I needed an outlet to vent. As an SU grad (’01), if it¬†added to the deafening roar of urgency to oust the bozo head coach, and helped boot him out of the 315? Even better. Little did I think the blog would turn into a site, then turn into a multi-platform outlet that has a full-time staff of writers and broadcasters who probably look at me as the bozo managing editor.
But they’ll never tell me that. Ah, it’s good to be in charge.
Anyway, the Fizz has grown and grown and grown steadily… just like Billy Owens waistline. And because of it, we needed a new redesign. Traffic is exploding for our mobile-based users. The comments sections surge with every Orange saga. And those floating bubbles started to really drive the staff batty.
Hope you enjoy the easier click-through, the better mobile interface, and better organization of stories and pics. Be patient with us through the weekend. We’re working and tinkering with all the old gadgets we love, and way more new ones we haven’t even installed yet. Think of today’s version as the 1981 version of the Carrier Dome. No Otto. No banners. No TOPS signs.
But one day soon, it’ll be a resplendent jewel of a teflon bubble filled with hot air where college students can play sports. Or grown adults can complain about the bozo coach.
