Two days ago Davante Davis officially decommitted from Syracuse’s 2015 recruiting class.
The Florida high schooler posted this message on Twitter confirming his decommitment: ‚ÄúI will be opening everything back up far as this recruiting process. I’ve had a nice talk with Coach McDonald [and] also have had a talk with my family and decided to decommit from Syracuse. It’s nothing but love for them but I want to enjoy the whole recruiting process and give everyone a fair chance.”
The Fizz reported last week that the 3-star recruit has been receiving offers from many Division I powerhouses since his May 6 commitment. Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Wisconsin are just some of the schools to recently offer Davis. At the time of his commitment Davis’s only other offers were from Virginia, Florida Atlantic, Florida International and Cincinnati. A major reason why teams are just beginning to offer scholarships to Davis is because he missed a lot of his junior season after suffering a shoulder injury that required surgery. His shoulder kept him out for most of the year, which hurt his recruiting stock.
Davis was the top player in Syracuse‚Äôs 2015 class, and losing him definitely hurts. But there’s good news: yesterday‚Äôs commit cornerback Andrew Spence has similar size to Davis. Davis is currently viewed as the better recruit (Rivals gives Spence just a 2-star rating), but replacing Davis‚Äôs length in such a quick manner was vital for the Syracuse coaches. Almost immediately, the Orange added a new lanky cornerback that will excite fans.
Davis’s loss is a step in the wrong direction for the program, but it was always going to be tough to hold onto him when the big boys began to offer. Fortunately, Orange coaches have drawn interest from other big defensive backs and will recover from the decommitment.
Syracuse’s class of 2015 is currently ranked 39th overall, according to 247Sports. There are no 5- or 4-star commits for the Orange.

Are you serious with this crap? “The fizz reported he received multiple division one offers.” NO YOU DID NOT! He did! He tweeted them out! You didn’t report anything!
Then you write “Davis’s” which isn’t proper English. My word. The fizz keeps getting worse and worse.
Calm down Frankie!! Davis did receive MORE and better offers than SU recently. Ok, look if he wants to, but goodbye from here as far as I’m concerned. A player has to want to be here and if not good riddance don’t let the door hit you on your way out!! HCSS and staff feel that way too-I HOPE!!
But Connor is right Davis’s move is a step in the wrong direction and HCSS might want to rethink some of his recruiting methods.

The Davis connection with Syracuse is far from over and maet conclude with Davis wearing orange unless gross continues to mess with the uniforms under penalty of be tarred and feathered on a rail and left in Cortland.

Why should we change anything if we are the ones finding kids first and offering. Davis will be a really tough get but if we can keep him he could be something special. Coach shouldnt change a damn thing. He is doing a great job and we will only be getting better kids. As we win we improve recruiting. As we improve we will have to fight these battles with the big boys if we wanna be one.

It’s happened to a couple of us in the past,someone has something negative/silly to say and uses another persons name for the post.

I wouldn’t call this a big loss when a 3* 17 year old changes his mind. If he gets upgrade to a 4* it will be unfortunate. An upgrade is not becasue of anything he has done on the field but more due to better offers from the USA’s biggest programs. Big corners are great if they can cover. Our recent big corners could not cover well. Reddish and Wigham at 5-10/11 will be better.
