Gerald Robinson Jr., SU football’s third commitment of the 2015 class, told The Fizz Thursday his soft verbal should not confuse anybody: 
‚ÄúWith Syracuse, I‚Äôm 100% right now.”¬†
The 5’11”, 175-lb. cornerback pledged Orange back on April 26th. Robinson hails from Hialeah, Florida and is represented by no one other than George McDonald. Syracuse’s OC may have landed the perfect guy, not just for his playmaking ability in the defensive backfield, but for the overall makeup of the 2015 class. Robinson on deciding early on SU:
“Just the bond with Coach McDonald I have. The few conversations with him I’ve had with him. I just know I can bring a couple of Florida guys with me to play with me.”

Robinson is finishing up his junior campaign with Champagnat Catholic with more offers stepping in his doorway. Bowling Green, Kentucky, Cincinnati, UCF and Utah have expressed interest with official pitches, while ACC counterparts Louisville and Miami are in the mix, too.
Obviously Robinson’s relationship with McDonald is invaluable for Syracuse. But his time on the gridiron should mostly be spent with the defensive minded Scott Shafer. In conversations he has had with the Orange head man, Robinson is focused on building around him:
“We just think that we can bring corners in that have a ‘no-fly’ zone, come in and cover and play early.”
Syracuse picked up 2-star Miami DB Davante Davis Tuesday. The formulation of a “no-fly zone” sounds intriguing. Robinson seems confident he can snag other recruits from the Sunshine State specifically in the secondary. With a Top 50 recruiting class this past February, the Orange gradually works itself into conversations with better defenders in the backfield. Robinson hopes to set the framework.
Robinson reps the nickname “Bubba” on Twitter and on and off the field at Champagnat. The nickname should have some liking by Orange Nation:
“They call me ‘Bubba Island.’ I had Bubba since I played football at a young age. It’s because I’m aggressive and a hard hitter.”
Secondary questions remain an off-season, hot-topic annually for Syracuse. Robinson tries to start a trend to differentiate this class. Recall the 2014 class consists of seven defensive backs. Robinson, and Davis, laid the framework.

Just a thought regarding all the DBs and WRs we have brought in and have now…and are bringing in.
This is how the TEAM gets better as the competition you practice against every day is stronger. We get frustrated when our WRs can’t get separation…we can’t believe how wide open THEIR WRs are in games against OUR DBs. Well just maybe there is/has been a gap in talent between the Orange and the adversary.
And I see it closing.
His nick name is “Bubba Island” because of the hits he dishes out. Do we have another Donovan Darius coming to Syracuse University?
The one thing that I like about this article is it mentions for the second year in a row we have recruits talking and helping recruit other recruits to come to syracuse. That too helps build a strong program. Just love what’s happening with the program guy’s.
OC GMhas a top 50 class already and now must shoot for a top 25. I can see that happening sooner than expected The secondary has needed a fix for many years and these two players are part of that “fix”.
Can’t have too many Florida kids on your roster!!!! I like what this staff is doing with recruiting. The key is continuing to produce a winner on the field…

Well the NFl Draft went a little better this year than last. I looked at the top ten players and wanted to know what the amount of stars were after their names coming out of high school.
Top Ten had 1(5*),5(4*),3(3*) and 1(N/R) player picked. Not bad,I guess.

I remember the articles written by the Post Standard and cuse confidential websites concerning Jadeveon Clowney. I watched him play over the last four years and was hoping that he would have picked Syracuse in 2010 instead of South Carolina to play football at.
Top 10 Terry,I wouldn’t have thrown any of them away especially 325 lb OT Greg Robinson out of Auburn.

The websites list Syracuse with having only one recruit and currently is ranked 62nd and 67th in the polls. It’s early and I expect Syracuse to rise significantly before it’s all said and done.

You could be right about Jason Bromley being the only player drafted out of Syracuse this year. I also believe that more will make it going the free agency route.
Jason came to Syracuse as a 245 lb DE. His highschool coach told us all what kind of player he was and that he was going to work hard,gain weight and possibly move to the DT possession before he’s through at Syracuse. Jason is leaving Syracuse achieving his goal of one day playing in the NFL as a 6’3″ 305 lb DT who has worked very hard and doing everything his coach directed/asked him to do. I wish him the very best.

I like Jason a lot and Love my GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG-MEN to, but I feel he’s not a 3rd round pick!! Maybe a 5th round!! Most feel he’s a project. They like his leadership to!!
Mr. Smith by coming out early helped his draft status-huh??? HCSS should put that on his bulletin board for future players with limited quality to finish out the whole program in stead of leaving early!! Hell no RB got picked until latter on in the 3rd round. GGGGGGGGGGGGG-Men drafted their RB in the middle of the 4th round. And Williams was far better than Smith!! Simple greed caught up with him. Some will blame the agents, but Smith signed the papers not his agent!!
Hey Terry, I respect you but you can’t say Smith’s greed led him to come out early. I find it very upsetting when people are characterized as such without knowing the person. Mr. Smith while a jr in athletic eligibility GRADUATED this past weekend. Meaning he fulfilled his undergraduate requirements to Syracuse University. He has earned his degree which is the main object Jerome Smith the student set out to accomplish. Jerome Smith the Athlete performed admirably as a member of the orange and while I would have wanted to see him come back, I have no beef with him leaving. He did not really stand to improve his stock much because he wasn’t going to get any faster or really have enough time in the offense to become more of a pass catcher. With 3 deserving backs behind him, his numbers would have probably fallen even further. He would have however been in a position to take more punishment and knock more tread off his tires while playing a position with limited shelf life. I think Smith made the only decision he could have considering his academic status(graduating) and position. He is a hard worker who can possibly make a roster even if it isn’t the falcons roster.
So the main take away from this is that I want hardcore fans like Terry to look at the entirety of the situation and remember that these young men are people/students with complex lives and decisions to make. Just because a decision doesn’t mesh with what our expectation or desires are, doesn’t mean we should question their character.
