According to SI’s Pete Thamel, sophomore forward Jerami Grant will announce that he is entering the NBA Draft. Grant has been projected in most mock drafts as a lottery pick in this June’s draft. The sophomore averaged 12.1 points and 6.8 rebounds this year, however he was bothered by a back injury down the stretch and in the NCAA Tournament. Grant is the second SU player to leave early for the NBA Draft in the last three weeks joining Tyler Ennis. Grant and Ennis also join CJ Fair and Baye Keita who leave as graduating seniors.
Grant brings a lot of athleticism to the next level, but his game remains unpolished in some areas of the offensive end, namely a jump shot. The weakness remaining in his game led many to think Grant might stick around at SU for another year. The extra time on the Hill likely would have benefitted him and made him a better player eventually when he made the jump to the NBA. At times he was a little wild around the basket and he had trouble consistently hitting jump shots.
The Orange could look to fill Grant’s place with DaJuan Coleman, who Grant actually stepped in for after a season-ending injury to Coleman. Coleman has largely been disappointing since joining SU from Jamesville-Dewitt, but he is expected to be a starter again if healthy next year and will need to take on a bigger role and stay healthy, if he is a starter again. Also playing a role will be incoming freshman Chris McCullough, and rising sophomore Tyler Roberson. Because of the lack of playing time Roberson got as a freshman, and McCullough will just be entering SU as a freshman this summer, both are truly unknowns but they will need to contribute to the Orange’s success. Grant leaves the Orange with a void of scoring, rebounding and energy. It is likely up to this trio to fill the void next season.
While his game might have had wholes and he could have benefitted from another year at SU, Jerami Grant is ready to declare for the NBA Draft according to reports.

time for some people to step up…..We have guys that sat the bench last year…who should see this an opportunity to get on the court and make plays next year. It will be up to them!!!
The scary part is none of the sophs showed much as freshman so expecting them to make the leap next year is a stretch.
To say that DC2 is “disappointing is like saying that Carmelo Anthony was “good ” here n Syracuse. Classic understatementsDC2’s fat butt has taken a toll on his knees to the point he may not be available next year either. Carmelo was over the top great when he was here winning Jimbo’s only NC trophy I kind of doubt that Jimmy will ever get another one of those. One and done for the great HOF coach.
DC has lost a ton of LBS. He’s actually really skinny right now. If you don’t believe me check out his twitter pic. If you do not have twitter google it. Next yr going to be about delevlopment. MC ranking kinda a jk. He fell off bc he got kicked outta his prep school. He is an elite talent top 10 good. Some questions about his motor but don’t think that will be an issue once the staff gets their hands on him. Him and Roberson have a chance to be a speaical tandom next yr. I think someone to keep an eye on is BJ. Think he could have a big season. Will have concerns at the point again this upcoming season but KJ is a more explosive athlete then Ennis. Although not the most accomplished passer and decision maker that Ennis was at the same stage he probably has a slightly better offensive game overall. Also for the love of god I hope we look at our big men this season. Need to get RAK some touches.
Fizz nothing on the NCAA ruling that chino didn’t have a redshirt yr? For ppl that didn’t know the NCAA ruled that last yr counted and chino now will only 3 yrs left on the hill. Chalk one up for the ol’NCAA looking out for the kids.
Side football note. Chad Kelly got kicked from Clemson today for conduct detrimental to the team. Anyone think SU should look into bring him on board?

I was going to mention Chad Kelly getting dismissed from Clemson,but you beat me to it. The answer to your question,should we bring him here is absolutely NOT!!!! he had his chance and he blew it. Oh well life goes on.
We have the horses(QB’s)here that is going to take Syracuse to the next level of competition over the next 4-5 years. Why ruin it?
As for basketballsyracuse is going to start BJ Johnson and Tyler Roberson as forwards. Coleman will start at center if healthy,I see Rahkeem Christmas becoming the animal in center that we’ve all been expecting. But the biggest addition to the team is going to be the incoming freshmen Chris McCullough and
Kaleb Joseph. I know everyone is worried and starting to cry like Chicken Little when he started to hollar,”THE SKY IS FALLING”.

Oh!!I forgot to add this little nugget. Everyone is overlooking the fact that Jamal Custis will join the basketball team as a walk-on player sometime after Christmas or at the end of the football season right after the bowl game that they will play in.
This kid can play the game as well or better than Tyler Ennis or Jerami Grant. I know it’s hard to accept but you need to watch the tape on this kid playing basketball.

Chad Kelly is another one of those big time 4* NYS recruits you want Syracuse to bring in for football that’s failed miserably. I’ll take the 2 (4*) and 3 (3*) QB’s that we have any day of the week over a guy like Chad Kelly.
The list of NYS 4* athletes that have failed at other schools is getting longer by the day/year.

Ron never was all that high on Kelley at all!! NYSHS QB’s always are extremely rare and he was average at best!! But 4/5 star players going else where to play and are behind better talent than SU has just shows that they made a mistake not picking SU!! Donnie Mac was good but not a real pro like passer, but good college passer!!
