Troy Henderson Jr. made the trek from Liberty, Ohio to watch SU’s spring game yesterday in the Dome. Judging from his Twitter account, the 6’1’’, 210-pound linebacker enjoyed the game and was impressed by what Syracuse has to offer. Henderson Jr. tweeted a picture of him with Orange legend Floyd Little that said: “ Loved the Syracuse visit.”
In addition to Syracuse, Henderson Jr. has been offered a football scholarship by Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Kent State and Toledo.
Henderson Jr. is a prototypical SU recruit and definitely has a good chance of committing. In the last few weeks, Scott Shafer has given offers to highly-touted 4-star recruits Gabe Megginson (offensive lineman) and Ryan Davis (wide receiver). These two are reaches for the Orange. Landing a guy like Henderson Jr. is much more realistic because Syracuse historically receives many commitments from 3-star athletes who still have a part of their game to work on. Henderson Jr. falls into this category as SU works toward recruiting 4-star talent.
Based off of his size and the offers he has received, Henderson Jr. is very similar to 2014 recruit Parris Bennett. Both are linebackers who are a little undersized. Neither will play right away for SU, but both can definitely be impact players in the future.
The fact that Henderson Jr. came for the spring game is important because it allowed him to see the team’s style, the Dome atmosphere and how the players and coaches conducted themselves. The visit also allowed Henderson Jr. to meet with a few 2014 Syracuse football recruits. He tweeted out a picture with himself and future SU linebacker Zaire Franklin.
Last Wednesday Syracuse received its first verbal commitment to the 2015 class from running back Tyrone Perkins. The Orange could soon add a second recruit to the list with Troy Henderson Jr.

the one thing syracuse must do is to keep investing in there athletics. that indoor practice facility is so important to the program its not even funny.i beleive once they get that down recruiting will pick up a bit.
agree…the Melo center sure seemed to help with bball recruiting.
beleive me when the recruits and the better teams come the fans will jump on the band wagon.but for now the diehards like myself must continue to support this team.
There has been an improvement in recruiting under HCSC…just a little bit. Our presence in the ACC will help us get better recruits. Improved facilities will also help……..But nothing will improve recruiting like WINNING!!!!! We need to continue to produce a winning product on the field and better recruits will want to play for the cuse. In 1996..with McNabb at QB, Syracuse beat Clemson in the Gator Bowl……40- 0!!!!!! What has happened to our two programs in the time between then and now? The last time we played LSU…..we beat them in a Bowl……We can get back to that kind of excellence in football…it will take time….the fall did not happen over night!!!!

The new facilities not starting is a joke. Some say its about politics. Its just about SUFB and its place in SYRCUSE U structure. SUFB should be #1. After all college FB is #1 in all college sports!! SUBB and the MELO CENTER flew into being!! That tells you everything!!
DO NOT FORGET ABOUT THE KIDS OF PSABUSEDU!! THE NCAA DID!!

You hit the nail on the head. Winning cures all. Shiny new uni’s are cool, playing big names is fun and new facilities are nice but the product on the field needs to be good. If not you need a good sales pitch to sell kids on the dream their class will be the one to turn it all around.

Seems you hate on the melo center a lot. The fact is melo gave back to get that built. Maybe you should be yelling at d-nabb or any of the countless other guys that made it to the NFL out of the ‘Cuse.
No I wear his gear all summer time!! My issue is SUBB is ALWAYS ahead of SUFB. The Melo Center shows that too!! Not only in time management but in class and style. Great for the new SUFB facilities, but its no Melo Center or same as other top line programs. Look you must agree that SUBB is in the top 10/15 country wide in college basketball and the Melo Center shows that. The administration must feel the same about its football program!! Because the new SUFB facilities are not on the same level as quality or looks like the Melo Center is. Its fans like you(Carlton) that just wave the SUBB flag and let things ride. That’s why the SUFB program is where its at today. And finally like I said a number of times before, The DOME was built for FOOTBALL not basketball!! And look what happened! Get over it and let the administration know it wronged the SUFB program!! Its time for them to man up and fix this wrong!! But I doubt it since they have rapid SUBB fans like you. Why should they change anything??? But I’ll be that stone in their shoe to remind them of their misgivings!!!
