Well, that did not take long. When realignment was in full effect, many critics said traditional rivalries were going to be destroyed and conferences like the Big East were bound to end their basketball glory. Although the move to the ACC did diminish the rivalries between Syracuse and teams such as Villanova and Georgetown, new rivalries have emerged quicker than expected.
The obvious rivalry that has formed quickest is Duke. We all knew Syracuse and Duke would develop a rivalry over time based on plenty of factors. Both programs have two Hall of Fame coaches, storied traditions and passionate fan bases. Jim Boeheim and Mike Krzyzewski have developed a strong friendship coaching Team USA in the Olympics, but they seem to be coaching just a little bit harder when they face each other. They also play in two very different but tough venues in the country: the Carrier Dome and Cameron Indoor Stadium.
However I do not think anyone thought it would develop this fast. The first two ACC contests have brought controversy, ejections, and some of the highest level of play in college basketball. Both fan bases have started a growing hate for one another, which can only lead to better buildup and hype in future games. Unfortunately, both coaches do not have much left in the tank in terms of future years. Boeheim is 69 years old, while Coach K celebrated his 67th birthday a few weeks ago. Though Boeheim did show he still has some fight in him in his tirade on the court this past weekend.
As for future rivalries, fans will have to wait and see what develops. Some big names that come up are North Carolina and N.C. State. Unfortunately, UNC has had quite a few ups and downs the past few seasons, leading to unranked matchups. The Tar Heels have not skipped a beat in recruiting, however, which should set up some big games in the upcoming seasons for the Orange and the Tar Heels. Louisville will also be entering the ACC next season. Syracuse fans all remember some good and bad memories with the Cardinals in the Big East. It does not hurt that Louisville has another Hall of Fame coach, Rick Pitino.
Time will tell how Syracuse’s rivalries will play out. We knew there was going to be a lot of potential for the Orange in the ACC. Yes, basketball was not the reason why SU decided to switch conferences, but basketball sure can reap the benefits.

I think your right,the two games played against Duke this year was probably the best that college basketball had to offer during the regular season and we still have the ACC/NCAA Tournament’s to play.
What are the odds that these two teams meet again in one of the above mentioned.
Both games were great theater for both fan bases. We couldn’t have asked for anything better. Looking forward to the games each and every year.
Things are only going to get better because Duke(4 recruits) has the #1 recruiting class in the nation and North Carolina(3 recruits)has the 3rd best.Louisville(5 recruits)has the 5th ranked class while Syracuse(2 recruits) is ranked 22nd.
The ACC is a darn good 3 season conference…
Fla St and Clemson//will Vatech and Miami be “down” much longer in football? Throw in Lville..not too shabby.
CUSE PITT LVILLE UNC DUKE and maybe UVA//year in year out will go toe-to-toe with anyone…

PLEASE SUFB DA stuff!! Same old BB stuff!! There is stories out there on SUFB. We heard about SUBB during the football season constantly. Now you know that SUBB is #1 and SUFB has to compete against that!! Sorry just interested in colleges # 1 sport college football and that means SUFB!!

The Duke followers clearly have the refs on their side at the Cameron court. I refuse to call that a “stadium”.Fas are idiots no matter who they cheer of but the DUkies are obnoxious as well. That whammy wave of theirs puts them over the top as they try to put curses on the opposition. There will probably be another meeting in March for these two programs and the officiating should be under close scrutiny.
I thought the block called on silent G was a worse call then the one on fair. Silent G was set for almost an entire 2 seconds before Parker crashed into him. Also the possession before the fair call Parker clearly whacked RAK in the head on his dunk. I don’t remember when it happen but it was in the last 2 minutes of the game when of a miss Parker was swinging his elbows around after a rebound unless the rule was changed i am pretty sure that isn’t allowed anymore.
Last thing I wanna address is that stupid photo that is going around that puke fans are claiming as “proof” that Fair stepped outta bounds before the drive to the rim. 1. It was tweeted by a puke fan. 2. It is blurry and A) you can’t see if his heels are up and B) you can’t see if he’s even touching the ball. Watching the replay video’s it’s clear he’s in bounds when he is touching the ball though. If anything ppl should watch the frame by frame photos of hood already falling backwards before Cj even makes contact.
Anyways only the second loss. Puke still can’t win the ACC and SU is still in the hunt. They can keep their bullshit win.
