Earlier today, SU Athletics announced senior cornerback Keon Lyn will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a lower-body injury that will require surgery. Lyn started all five games this year, but had just 16 tackles and no interceptions. The Orange had trouble containing opposing receivers and losing its top corner will not help the matter the rest of the season. As a senior, it is likely Keon Lyn has played his last game in a Syracuse uniform, unless he can receive a waiver for another year of eligibility.
It is not completely clear who will take Lyn’s spot in the secondary in the short term. Brandon Reddish missed the game against Clemson with an injury and Julian Wigham took his spot. In the game, Wigham intercepted Tajh Boyd for the first interception Boyd threw this year. Either Reddish or Wigham will start for the Orange in Lyn’s spot, but it will likely come down to whether Reddish is healthy enough to play next weekend against NC State.
Either way, it is a big loss for the Orange. Although the secondary hadn’t been playing particularly well, Lyn brought some senior leadership to the team. The loss of Lyn means there will be more pressure on the linebackers and defensive line to get pressure on the opposing QB and keep the defensive backs from having to hold coverage for a long time. Lyn will be missed in the Orange secondary, but Reddish and Wigham need to step up if the team has bowl aspirations.

this one hurts, definately will miss keon for the rest of this year. i feel he will play on sundays though.
Feel bad for him. Final season at Cuse. Wish him the best. Going forward I’d try to get Wigham as much time as possibble maybe vaulting him over Anderson. A healthy Reddish and Wigham would be my corners…and maybe the team should consider using Estime as a 2 way player in the wake of 2ndary woes. He is smallish and a true freshman but at this point you may not have many options. Back to Whigham, he’s a rs fresh with promise so let him develop by playing against the rest of the ACC slate.

I think Darius Kelly has some DB experience and played a little corner.
Though not great, Lyn is our best corner and makes us very thin at CB. Shafer tries a lot of pressure packages leaving corners on their own..so this don’t help at all.
MISS HIM??? Where was he Saturday!! Other than missing that rather easy wrap up tackle that ended in a TD!! NFL no way!! You have to think faster and quicker in the NFL than in college ball!! And they run a hell of alot faster in the NFL as well too!! GEZ!! Most of the remaining ACC teams have better speed than SU-thanks dougie no wonder you left!! Hang in there HCSS!!

Keon Lyn will be missed he really turned the corner in the middle of the season last year and became a very good corner. Reddish I love and he will need to step up now. I would go with Reddish and Wigham
Bummer! A season ending loss in one of our weak spots truly hurts. Nothing to do but suck it up and see what can fill the gap.
Have to agree with Terry he played awful vs Clemson and has been part of the secondary woes he and Anderson have been starters so they got priority but Reddish is our best corner the shark (shmarko thomas) said so himself and Ive been really impressed with Whigham didn’t hurt that he had tajh body’s first pic of the year. I look forward to next year without anderson/lyn and think whigham reddish and wayne morgan who remember switched to cb this yearI think in terms of filling voids with lyn and reddish both potentially out cuse will use morgan anderson whigham and if needed darius kelly and noah douglas a walk on that cam lynch said was besting it up I think Cameron lynch is a great run stopper but he cant cover for shit but thats an argument for another time #BEATNCSTATE
Bad break for Lynn. I would like to see Reddish and Whigham at the corners and Morgan backing up those two along with R. Anderson. Could our secondary play any worse? I would like to see a shake up of the entire secondary. The only current starter I would retain is the long rangy safety with the cast on his wrist, Durrell Estridge.
