The most incredible streak in college lacrosse, and one of the most impressive in collegiate sports, is intact thanks to a late scoring binge by Syracuse. The Orange beat Yale 7-6 in the Elite 8, fueled by three goals in the final 3:36. With the win, SU advances to yet another Final Four. Which means this Class of ’13 will reach the promised land, just like every other class on the Hill since 1979.
Let that sink in. Every lax player who has suited up for the Orange in the last three and a half decades, and stayed for four seasons, has reached championship weekend. Simply amazing.
This was an embattled senior class. Last year the Orange suffered through a tremendously disappointing campaign, with Duke putting a final sharp nail in the coffin in the first round of the NCAA tournament. SU had notched the top seed in the tourney this year, but three underachieving seasons on the Hill in ’10, ’11, and ’12, left many wondering if the Orange lax magic had vanished for good.
Instead this senior class bonded with a group of talented youngsters and clicked into gear during crunch time, ripped off a trio of goals to take the lead, and eventually hang on to win the game. Every lax player who has ever been recruited to the Hill essentially had an unbreakable promise: You become an Orange, you’ll play in the Final Four. Guaranteed.
It looked like that sturdy certainty might come to an end yesterday in College Park, Maryland. Instead, one of the most mind-blowing records is still in tact.
You play four years at Syracuse, you’ll go to a Final Four. Thirty-four years and counting.

HELP!!! My grandsons all of a sudden like LAX!! They are 10 and 2 at 8 yrs old!! I know Football,Baseball and Basketball, but LAX is a learning experience for me. I took them to a high quality sporting store and felt like they were still trying to sell me like a used car salesman. I really wondered if they (sales guy was about 19 yrs old) know their stuff on equipment and such for young ones!! I know I can google the sport for youth, but have always sought human attention to my questions. The parents of these kids were both all-stars(proud grandpa too) in the sports they played and enjoyed. I just believe you try your best as a parent/grandparent to give your kids/grand-kids the best chance to enjoy the sport if they are good or not. Its the experience I want them to gain. Anything after that is fate!! Any LAX freaks out there that might know where I can take these young bucks for a LAX education on equipment and starting out in the game. Yes we have I think JR programs out there, because we have HS LAX and some good programs to!! Thank You and the kids thank you to!! GO CUSE!!!

Your starting to give your secrets away and doing so your starting to show us some of your weaknesses. Grandchildren are pretty special aren’t they Terry?
You have grandsons that are into lacrosse. I have 15 & 12 year old granddaughters that are into softball. I hadn’t realized how big girls softball had become in NY. My 12 year old plays Littleleague and is on a traveling team that covers the state during the summer months. My 15 year old played JV this year and was recruited by another traveling 18U squad that covers the state and will travel to OHIO for a huge 4 day tournament and compete against other teams from around the nation.
yesterday my wife and I started the day at 8:00 am and traveled to Liverpool to watch our 12 year old play 3 games. Then we traveled over to Central Square to watch our 15 year old play a double header scrimmage against another team and didn’t get home until 9:30 pm. As you well know the kids appreciate the support the we as grandparents and part of the family give by going there to watch them play. Time is well spent and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
To get chances to spend time with the family is priceless and will give both grandparents and kids memories that will last a lifetime.

Ron I have faith, but so does the other teams!! Reality is the team that hauls the championship trophy over their heads. I truly want my beloved CUSE to haul that trophy up over their heads. But this year it looks like an equal final 4 and any team can win.
I know that about following your kids/grand-kids. It looks like I’ll be a good part of that and their parents as well. That’s no problem at all. The 10 yr old has a good record already and what’s scary is the (2) 8 years olds are as good or better. And very competitive too! They also love golf and play with me every weekend. I’m loving it too!! Its a life learning experience for them. That’s what its all about to me!! We will set time and pizza away for the LAX finals coming!! GO CUSE!!

In today’s society we’re led to believe that the family structure is in decline,I say bunk. During our time together yesterday my wife and I had a discussion about all of the gray haired people that was in attendance at the ball games.
Grandparents Terry plus the parents of the kids playing the games is what special to me. While spending time with them we teach what’s right and wrong,they learn and at the end of the day with them they come to you and put their arms arround you and tell you how much they’ve loved it and how much they love you grandpa is something money just can’t by.
