Vegas Says Syracuse Has Some of the Best Odds in the Nation to Win the Title

Where does the Orange rank among the rest of the ACC? Click here to find out.

One Vegas sportsbook updated its odds on the 2014 national championship last night, and Andrew Wiggins decision to attend Kansas has shaken them up. The Wildcats are actually still the overall favorite, but the Jayhawks have closed the margin and are a close second. Syracuse has the 10th best odds of cutting down the nets and handing Jim Boeheim his second title at 25-1. Like those chances? Time to throw some coin down in Sin City.

The Orange have the third-best odds of winning the title in the ACC, behind Duke and UNC. The team SU was eliminated by, Michigan, is at 33-1. Louisville is trying to repeat, and the Cards odds of doing so is at 17-1. Of the mid-majors, Memphis is tops at 33-1.

Here’s the complete odds:

Kentucky 5/1

Kansas 11/2

Louisville 17/2

Michigan State 12/1

Duke 14/1

Arizona 15/1

North Carolina 16/1

Florida 18/1

Ohio State 20/1

Syracuse 25/1

33/1: Connecticut, Indiana, Memphis, Michigan

40/1: Colorado, UCLA

50/1: Baylor, Creighton, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Iowa, Marquette, Missouri, NC State, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, VCU, Wisconsin

66/1: Butler,¬†Illinois, ¬†Minnesota,¬†St. John’s,¬†Tennessee,¬†UNLV,¬†Villanova,¬†Virginia,¬†Wichita State

75/1: Florida State, Notre Dame

100/1: Alabama, Arizona State, BYU, California, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kansas State, Miami (FL), Ole Miss, Oregon, Purdue, San Diego State, Stanford, Texas, Vanderbilt, West Virginia

What you start to realize is just how bad a bargain betting on the college hoops national champion is. While upsets and Cinderellas are happening all the way to the Final Four, only powerhouses ever win the whole thing. You’re telling me, if I plunk down $100 on Minnesota and somehow the Gophers make a magical run, pull off at least three monumental upsets and become the most improbable champ since ’85 Villanova, I’m only cashing out $6,600? That’s ridiculous. I know one thing: those odds for Gonzaga are WAY too high. We know they’ll get bounced on opening weekend again.

Two more prop bets for you from Bovada:

Andrew Wiggins – Will he be selected #1 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft?

Yes -300 (1/3)

No +200 (2/1)

Andrew Wiggins – Average PPG in the 2013-14 NCAA Basketball Season?

Over/Under 18

This feels a little high. Then again, Carmelo Anthony averaged 22.2 PPG in his only season on the Hill. And if Wiggins can deliver on the hype surrounding him, then maybe you gotta take the over.

    Your fantasy of being a loser @terry, is not anybody’s REALITY?

    Well,well,well,it looks like MCW is off to a wonderful start,by refusing to have workouts for the combine. That ought to bring him a couple extra million to his contract when he signs for a team over in Libya.

    Never thought he was a team player,I for one am glad he’s history.

    bigdouper your BB blood is showing. We have a Lax team going for a national title and a FB team building up from the ashes and we here about BB odds from a season not even close to starting. Give it a break. Its all a fantasy for now and who cares. In the fall/winter when BB starts then you should get your feces all excited!! So take some pep-to and calm down.

    I see more contacts/offeres from the SU staff on FB. Man is HCSS/Coach McD really going after it in a shotgun way. Are they filling the hat with the hope of getting a bite or just hoping Santa helps them sign a few diamonds!! It sure is a different way of doing it as in decades past!!

    Lets keep the hoop talk to a minimum since the seasons just finished a while back and the hoops guys were on me for BEGGING for some recruit or ANY football news!!..@Dip,not you specifically just seeming Fizz BB bias?I think?

    @Terry & Russell MacEachern;

    I agree with both of your assessments on BB. The season is over and I know that we’re going to talk more about it when the season gets closer in September.

    @Terry;

    I can’t remember when the last time was that a coaching staff has gone after and offered so many scholarships to so many recruits. You may be right in saying that if offered maybe just maybe we’ll get some quality 4* football players.

    Just remember now,the thing that we have outside of an excited and juiced up head coach leading the charge is “SANTA CLAUSE” and I know if possible he will fulfill our wishes if we’re good. Remember GOOD.

    GO CUSE;

    Guys,

    Yes the season is over but this one of the hottest recruiting periods in CBB. Summer AAU bball is about to be in full swing. So i hope they keep us up to date on our targets. This is a dead time right now for college football so I don’t understand why everyone is up in arms.

    Carlton-Its not dead time for CFB. Its prime time talent searching for CFB. CBB just ended over a month ago-enough already. Sincere SUFB fans are just dying for info since SUBB is such a long season. And really nothing happens until the tournament starts! Lax is going for national titles in mans and women’s hardly any mention there too. SUBB just ended give it a break. It will cut into SUFB’s season soon enough!! Yet does SUFB/LAX cut into SUBB not yet any way!!

    Terry- it is a dead period only thing going on is summer conditioning. Yes CFB recruiting is just starting to pick up but so to is CBB recruiting . Both should be covered.

    Of course, the way to win in sports gambling is to make sure that the
    odds you are getting paid at are longer than the true odds of an event happening.
    One ought to maintain a decent familiarity of the sports to know
    how, where, and when to place the best bets.
