Jim Boeheim and Orange hoops reeled in five more stars last night. That’s 14 stars over the last three weeks if you’re keeping count. Five-star Class of 2014 PF Chris McCullough became the latest Syracuse commit, a day after his Brewster Academy teammate, Ron Patterson, also chose SU. It was a no-brainer for the Bronx native.

The Orange has now received four commitments over the last three weeks. Rochester C Chino Obokoh and Pennsylvania swingman BJ Johnson both committed three weeks ago, but McCullough is the biggest splash. Ranked the third-best power forward in the nation for his class, the 6’10” 220 lb. forward has incredible athletic ability and basketball IQ. His moves around the rim are slick, and is a terrific ball-handler for his size. McCullough is a natural scorer.
McCullough picked Syracuse over schools like St. John’s, Kansas, Louisville and others. His commitment could also be the first of a two-part deal. McCullough and 2014 Lincoln HS SG Isaiah Whitehead have talked about being a package deal. The 5-star Whitehead was excited for his buddy last night as he took to Twitter.

If Whitehead to Syracuse was looking good before, now it‚Äôs looking great. Syracuse’s¬†hoops recruiting front is becoming daily headlines news. With the possibility of McCullough reclassifying to the Class of ’13, things could be heating up. In addition to Whitehead, SU is high on now re-classified ‚Äò13 Center Dakari Johnson who had a great visit to the Hill back in September. And don’t forget about¬†‚Äô15 PG Isaiah Briscoe, who happens to be the little brother of former SU women‚Äôs basketball star Iasia Hemingway.
McCullough’s game reminds a lot of people of Rakeem Christmas’. Adding a 6’10” stud adds to an already formidable front court could mean big things in the Dome.
The future is looking mighty bright as SU heads to the ACC next season. It’s been a blazing month on the recruiting trail. It seems like only a matter of time before Boeheim and the Orange reel in yet another big catch.

Where is Carlton at? Did he not say that we had hurt our chances foe Isaiah Whithead with the signing of Ron Patterson?…..Appears his assessment was not based on much! Patterson’s signing improved our ability to sign McCullough……And McCulloug”s signing will enhance our ability to sign Whitehead. Looks like Jimmy B. and the Cuse know what they are doing when it comes to recruiting. And i will say it again: Ron patterson will be a good pick up for us…go Cuse.
And this just in Dakari Johnson has reclassified to 2013. Rumor is that it’s between Cuse and Florida. Just wow.
Whitehead is no guarantee but I know he is high on Syracuse. Having both of them would be great for Cuse
Dakari Johnson most likely is not coming to the Cuse. I’d say he is a going to be a Gator unless Kentucky works last minute wonders on him. He has been playing with Florida commit Kasey Hill(#2 PG in class of 2013) at Montverde Academy. Also if rumors are true that the Cuse is a firm leader for Tyler Roberson and he is likely to commit within a week then the Cuse simply does not have an offer to give.
How can he be a “natural scorer” but his game reminds you of Rak Christmas? Seems contradictory.

Yeah comparing his game to Rak’s is a bit of a head scratcher athleticism yes everything else no. McCullough’s game I believe is most comparable to Austin Daye out of Gonzaga and now with Pistons in the NBA.
I wouldnt say we have no shot at Dakari. He LOVES Cuse and has a good relationship with JB. I would say we are definitely in the running. As for Roberson, I would put my money on Nova.

@Dr.Bill, McCullough was a strong lean to SU before Patterson was ever in the picture my man. He was at the elite camp this summer and it really was just a matter of time before he committed. Was a lot of chatter he was gonna commit last week. Yes Whitehead has talked package deal but a lot of that talk was before Patterson committed. It sure helps having McCullough but doesn’t make it a done deal. If whitehead did come he be the 4th guard on the team. Ennis, TC, Pat an him. Now say you wanted to go small (bearing in mind everyone stayed/committed)the forward position would be crowed as well. You could have BJ, Roberson, J-grant, Gbinije. So I kindly ask you how do you see him getting that many minutes?

My issue /w this class is that there are bigger fish left to catch and SU is acting like drunken pac-man jones in a strip club making it rain scholarships. Can any of you honestly /w a straight face say you rather have BJ over Lawrence? Or Patterson over Vonleh? Or Chino over DJ? This class could have been huge. @CuseOnly, I never passed my other post off as “fact” it was clearly my opinion. So calling me a “tool” just makes you look like a fool. Every player at this level has a ego. They all feel they are better then the next guy so to not assume Sheldon was a litte hurt after SU went so hard after young is just foolish. Carlton… go jump off a bridge. Syracuse has always recruited this way and the coaches are a lot smarter than you and the articles you read. Because Kentucky is recruiting one year players doesn’t mean everyone else has to follow suit to be succesful. Syracuse is a succesful program doing things the way they’ve always done by finding one or two really good players and gettting guys that compliment them and other guys they can devlop into good players. Syracuse is a basketball program not a factory. Maybe the syracuse staff didnt want selden or go after young as hard as you say or think. Maybe we will still get one of the top forwards… your not part of the program you just read the same crap as the rest of and make assumptions which make you sound like a tool.
