The next bullet point on Dajaun Coleman’s timeline will be a visit to Ohio State this weekend. Last Friday night the apple of Syracuse’s eye attended Kentucky’s Midnight Madness, and has told The Fizz he is planning to make his decision by early November.
Coleman’s Albany City Rocks coach¬†Jim Hart tells Adam Zagoria and SNY.tv a visit to the Hill will happen¬†sometime after his Columbus visit.

An interesting nugget from ZagsBlog notes, “Coleman will visit Syracuse, which is considered the hometown favorite.” DC 2.0 leaning toward SU would be tremendous, but also news to The Fizz. This site, led by Alex Plavin, has been in regular contact with Dajaun and his coaches for over a year now and they have all played it remarkably close to the vest.
It may just be the skeptic in every Orange fan, but murmurs have whispered Coleman is fascinated by John Calipari and even the Buckeyes over SU. The fact DC has yet to take the official visit to the Syracuse campus is nothing to fret. He’s grown up in SU’s backyard and has taken numerous unofficial visits to the Hill over the years. Boeheim and co. have recruited DC 2.0 since the 7th grade.
If indeed he holds true to that early November date, a decision may come in just two weeks. After a trip to Lexington last weekend, one to Columbus this one, his official to SU may happen around Halloween. In which case, we may know the lucky winner of the Coleman Sweepstakes shortly after that.
Dajuan’s coach told The Fizz back in July there was a clear Big 3. That hasn’t changed. Each of the schools left have strengths. Kentucky’s knack for churning out lottery picks. Ohio State’s success with big men recently. Syracuse’s geography, Brandon Triche and SU’s longstanding history with Coleman. Either way, we are closing in on a decision for one of the most sought-after big men in America.

If Dajuan Coleman were to commit to Syracuse, he would have already done so. This is much like the recruitment of Liverpool High Schools linebacker/runningback J.J. Grant back in 1985. For months it was down to two schools – Michigan and Syracuse. Word was that J.J. really liked Michigan, but LOVED Coach Mac and the Orangemen. In the end, he chose Michigan. Orange fans everywhere, myself included, were heartbroken. Dajuan, much like Mr. Grant, showed respect to Syracuse University and the fans by not ruling them out early on in the recruiting process. So, brace yourselves, Orange fans – Dajuan Coleman will not be wearing orange come Autumn 2012. But cheer up – we still have Fab Melo!
Whereever he goes he goes. Can’t blame a kid for wanting to go to Kentucky, or Syracuse, or UNC, or Duke (you can blame a kid for going to OSU though) Could Dajuan picking another school open the door for Nerlens? I know different classes and all, but… I think (and to be up front, I have not compiled any data to base my opinion on) Nerlens is going to be a beast.
T, I’ve seen both play together in Venice Beach and elsewhere. Noel is way more athletic. DC is more polished on offense. However, if I had to pick just one, I would go with Noel.
That said, should Coleman go elsewhere, I certainly won’t have any heartburn.
If DC was coming to Syracuse he would have announced by now. I will not be shocked if he gives his commit to OS this weekend. Go for Noel and hope for the best after that. Best case is we get them both and dominate the paint for the year they both play in college. Anyhing more is a delusional state of mind.
I think that DC is more offense now is a pretty well known fact. Dc becomes a power forward and Nel the center if they were both to come.Christmas is gone the minute he has a good year. College is just an audition before payday.
Why is everyone down on dc? Noel an dc arent even in the same class. By 13 dc more then likely will be gone. Dc is a top 15 guy an is going to be a stud. If u dont think so u dont know bball at all. Signin dc is huge bc if we cant sign him its shows weakness not being able to sign somone in our own backyard.

I disagree that not signing DC2 shows weakness. If you are talking second tier guys, then yes being the home town, top 5 national programs may show a weakness. But we are talking about a top 5, national talent being recruited by the best, both currently and historically, programs in the country. Deciding to go to Kentucky over Cuse, or Cuse over Kentucky, does not show a weakness of either program, no matter where the kid is from. Just my opinion though.
I don’t see how Coleman choosing OSU or UK would be a black mark on SU. How many good to great players has SU taken away from the DC, Baltimore and Philly areas over the last few years? UK and OSU are 2 of the top programs in the country right now. There’s never shame in losing a recruiting battle to them, even if the kid is in your back yard. Besides, maybe Coleman just wants to go away for college. Couldn’t blame him if that’s the case.
DC is not coming to SU. He wants to play immediately and likely not want to split time with Fab, Keita, Christmas, etc. OSU’s Sullinger is gone after this year(well if the NBA can get a deal together) and KU will have openings too….SU, sorry, he’s not coming here
I agree with Theocuse. He’s not coming. Think Tobias Harris all over again. I think Harris wanted to come here, but he knew he wouldn’t start as a freshman with Joseph and Jackson playing the wings. It’s very rare these days that an elite, one-and-done type recruit is going to come in and sit for even one year. Coleman is the same way – I think he really wants to come here but sees all those bigs on the roster and is having second thoughts. Our frontcourt next year will likely have Melo and Keita in the middle, Christmas and Fair starting on the wings. With as much hype as Coleman has received since he was in 7th grade, it’s unlikely he wants to come here where the frontcourt is so crowded. While we’d love to have him, it’s not a killer loss, especially if Melo continues to improve the way everyone has discussed so far.
Despithat you guys say, it is a loss if we dont get him. We may have players in the frontcourt, but none of them are scorers like this guy. He puts up number that we will never see from Fab, Christmas or Keita. I hope Cuse lands this guy, because he brings another dimension to our frontcourt that will only help.
