Rush-Henrietta QB and NYS player of the year Ashton Broyld believes he’s signal calling for a reason.
“I never tried out for quarterback; I was put there. I feel like that’s where I belong,” said Broyld in a phone interview.
The 6-4, 225 monster from the ROC signed his letter of intent to play for the Orange and will join a jam-packed quarterback group in Syracuse. He also wants everyone to know that he won’t pull a David LeGree if he doesn’t get the job, either.
“I am open to playing other positions if quarterback doesn’t work out for me.”

Broyld will certainly try his hand under center to start off his Syracuse career. He was an amazing player in Section V, and his Athletic Director, Tom Stewart, thinks he can “do everything.”
Why Syracuse, though?
“Nowadays, the most important thing is honesty. You have to be able to trust your coaches and everyone else around you. I just feel like all those guys are father figures and they won’t let me fail.”
There was a snow day at his school today, so his signing may have seemed to be in jeopardy. His family took care of that with a little road trip.
“My godmom took me up to Fed Ex, and we just faxed it all over.”
That’s dedication; expect Broyld to compete with Nassib, Kinder, et. al for a spot on the chart next season.
