Ishaq Williams has delayed his decision until next week. The Fizz confirmed late Friday the elite defensive prospect will not make an announcement as part of the All-American Bowl festivities today. He is no longer included by the bowl organization’s “commitment list.” Ishaq is one of the highest-rated recruits in recent Syracuse history and is clearly the biggest-profile prep star in Doug Marrone’s tenure.
Ishaq had planned to make his announcement today, but decided Friday to extend his window. How many schools he’s down to is still being debated. ESPNNewYork believes Miami is still in the mix. The New York Post reports “Notre Dame, Syracuse and Penn State remain the only three options. There have been rumblings Williams would visit Miami, but that is not the case.”
Williams’ high school coach finally spoke after a week of silence from Team Ishaq. Lincoln’s Shawn O’Connor said last night Ishaq is not reopening the process, will focus on today’s game and take “another day or two” to decide.
It appears the Hurricanes are on the outside looking in. Most sources believe Miami entered too late, although the All-American Bowl has a statement from Williams saying that the Hurricanes are still in the mix.
The Fizz spoke last night to Pete Sampson of Irish Illustrated, who has been in San Antonio this week with Ishaq.
‚ÄúLess than 24 hours before kickoff, Williams said he still hasn’t made his college choice.” Penn State reentering the mix has been a surprise, since it appeared the Nittany Lions were eliminated weeks ago.¬†It may even be PSU that Ishaq refers to in the following statement:
“There’s some information that came up and I want to make sure it settles out first. I’m just waiting for everything to stabilize at a particular school. I can’t really discuss that, sorry.”
The Fizz believes Ishaq is referring to Penn State‚Äôs defensive coordinator Tom Bradley, who WTAE in Pittsburgh reports will be named head football coach at Pitt. Ishaq may be monitoring who takes over the DC position if Bradley is hired by the Panthers. From a Syracuse perspective, this is disheartening news. It likely means Penn State made a late push to jump back into the fray, when for all intents and purposes Paterno’s Crew had been crossed off.

This is ridiculous. I am not pursuing this any further, as it is a waste of time. When he announces, he announces and I will just hear about it on the news. Give me a break with all this crap that he wants to wait to see what happens at Penn St. Marrone has offered this kid everything under the sun, and yet it isn’t enough. Let him go wherever, who cares now. You either want to be an Orangemen or you don’t. It shouldn’t take this long.
I agree. I’m so tired of getting revved up for the decision, only to be disappointed again. It’s not like we won’t survive if we don’t get him anyways.
Give the kid a break the decision he makes is going to determine the next 3 or 4 years of his life, he wants to make sure he si making the right decision for HIM not for tha fanbases of the prospective schools he is considering, tehre is more than just football coming into play here this is also his education.
Serioulsy, I want him as much as anyone but common. He’s going to Penn State anyway, why else would he want to wait and see what happens. There is nothing going on at SU he needs to wait for. It’s over. Thanks for nothing.
When you tell everybody for weeks you’re making your decision, it tends to pissyou off. So, buck i’m not giving him a break. Make the decision and move on, like most of us do.

I can’t believe all of the negativity on the site about the delay. Have none of you had a big decision to make where all of the choices seem right? Obviously he is not sure about any one school as THE CHOICE. When it is all said and done…. I do believe his choice will be the Cuse… Why?…. all signs point to the Cuse, he just hasn’t come to that realization yet. Cuse is still in a good position. Cuse and Marrone put it all on the line for this Kid and I think he chooses us. Get ready for a huge surge in quality with these last few recruits.

Kevin this isnt some decision as simple as what shirt you are wearing today. This decision is going to have an impact on the rest of his life, I for one will not fault an 18 yearold kid for wanting to take a little more time in order to make the biggest decision of his life. he had planned on making his decision today, he didnt maybe he wasnt expecting it to be as hard of a decision as it is. what happens if he makes the decision without knowing for sure, he regrets then he has to transfer, being a football player he would have to transfer to a JUCO school in order not to sit out a year, not everyone wants to do that he obviously wants to be at a first rate institution for his entire collegiate career. get off your high horse as if this is just another decision,
All the “High Horse” comments make no sense. How are disappointed fans on a high horse? We just are mad we were led to believe SU was the fav when, if you read all the articles on the web and not just here or on Syr.com, all things now point to Penn St. He is not coming here. Accept and move on, I have. Has zero to do with a high horse. What’s next, telling me to get off my soapbox, makes about as much sense?
